Its interesting how youre keeping mind and brain apart from another in your explenation. Neurobiologically your Mind is just some weird chemistry and its prooven that ethanol influences the GABA-Receptors, which means its also influencing your thinking, in my opinion.
I know what you mean when you say that your mind is able to defy physiological effects. Probably you know it, when youre really drunk/stoned and something really serious happens i.e. youre friend tries to jump down some bridge and you have to hold him back... in that moment you can think totally clear again, regardless of the substances you consumed.
Wow. That's exactly what I meant. I concede that yes, the thinking is influenced. But just influenced, not directly effected. It's not some physical law like gravity that substances will do certain things. Rather they influence us subltly and we accept them. I'm sure if you gave certain people non-alcoholic beer without them knowing, they would still act drunk. It's a mindgame. And your example of people turning instantly sober when something bad is about to happen is exactly right. Sadly I guess, what is merely an influence might as well be considered effective and law for the majority of the population.
This sort of gets into how your thinking creates your reality. And I believe that on an internal level. I don't believe in the law of attraction type of ideas, but it is amazing how much better we can make things for ourselves by the way we approach them with good attitude and acceptance.
So when we sleep I guess to put it simply, most of the variables are erased. We go to a more pure state, only because there are so many less things happening and needing to be understood/categorized by our mind. From thought, to moving, to forming speech, listening is a big one, etc.
The body does so much on it's own. Even socially. Once your mind is free of that, things must get incredibly easier. If it doesn't seperate from the body, then you are not asleep. It has to be disconnected, otherwise your arms would move in your sleep. But I guess what we are talking about is the connecting points, when exactly does body turn into mind and vice versa.
