It happens to a lot of people, including me. I used to be a natural lucid, able to control every aspect of my dreams frequently (once a week at least), but now I have to really work to have an LD longer than a few minutes.

For most people something like this means that the free ride is over--no more natural LD's. Not always though. In general, start keeping a dream journal if you haven't already, practice reality checks, try WILD's once in a while if you feel like it, etc. Either you'll start having natural LD's again, or you'll build up to the skill level necessary to produce a few good LD's every month or so.

Also, if gaining lucidity isn't your primary problem, try simply having more faith in dreams. The only limiting factor in a dream is the remnant of your conscious logic and doubt--those two things limit everyone's lucid potential. Something I've found effective in countering them is spontanious action--Don't think before doing things in a dream. Think as little as possible to maintain lucidity. Such isn't easy, especially the first time, since a firm conscious grip must be held to stay lucid, but not enough to induce doubt. Practice, and believe that you can, and you'll be able to.

The first thing I do when I become lucid is go outside and start flying. I do pretty good at first, but then, after about 10 seconds, I slow down and i have to move my arms (like i'm swimming in water) to move through the air. It gets really annoying. I guess i need more faith...in myself.

The other day, I think it was monday night/tuesday morning, I became lucid in a dream after i started walking out to my car. I got that same damn thing I always get in dreams where my legs freeze up and i start moving in slow motion (thats my LD giveaway.) But anyways, i started flying and i was doing good for about 20 seconds and the slow motion thing started again. I was like, "WTF!? Why can't I do anything?" So, i just "swam" through the air and I saw a highway with cars speeding down it, I thought, "I better get down there and start a traffic 'accident' " So i made my way down there and walked out into the middle of the street and decided to flip a car "Carrie style" It didn't work, I got hit, felt a shock, and woke up at that instant.

I'm a horrible lucid dreamer, Dr. Phill, please help me!

I am proud to say i have not lost any of my ability yet.

In all truth, i've been gaining.
Why is it that when i am holding all of the cards, everyone else decided to play chess?
