Smile Can't think of what to do when lucid

I joined this forum because I have started having lucid dreams. I recently got married, so I get up with my wife after 5-6 hours of sleep and hang out 30-90 minutes until she leaves, then go back to sleep for another hour or two. After some reading, I have learned this strange sleep pattern may be the reason for my sudden lucidity. I have become lucid in dreams several times before, but woke up from the excitement after 1-10 seconds. I have since had 3 lucid dreams ranging from 15-45 seconds. The trouble is now not that I wake up, but that I fall back into regular dreaming while trying to figure out what to do. In my first dream I was walking in a park and tripped, and when I was getting back up I realized "this isn't right, I think I'm dreaming" so I tried flying and started soaring around the park. I then got stuck wondering what to do with this new found lucidity, and drifted back into regular dreaming while trying to decide what awesome things I could do. This has happened two times since. The lucid task of the month is a great idea for a goal to keep me focused and lucid, but if anyone has a suggestion of something more meaningful (spiritual, scientific, etc.) that I can try on top of the monthly task I am very open to ideas. Thank you

A good thing to do is keep track of cool things to do when lucid during the day.
These are known as lucid goals.
Literally anything you want to do can be done.

I've thought of a few things, but once I become lucid I get this feeling like I should do something important, and the things I've thought of (riding dinosaurs and such) seem like a selfish waste of time. I feel almost a responsibility to to something of scientific, philosophic, or spiritual importance. Perhaps this is because I've had so few lucid dreams, and will go away a bit if I get used to attaining such a rare state. Until then, however, I am trying to think of something that feels important and is easy to focus on. I've read of trying remote viewing and though doubtful it would be worthwhile, I'd be willing to try it, but I can't think of anything worthwhile to "view". I guess I'm looking for an experiment or something.

      That's Odd.

I don't feel the need to do anything profound or progressive. I just like to have fun. I usually select a super power, or do something that i couldn't do in real life. I like to think of lucid dreams like a vacation. I sure wish i could have them more often. Any tips?

Well IMO, you should first try and do simpler things before doing more complex things like scientific and philosophic things. It's like you should learn how to crawl before walking. And besides, you should always have fun in lucid dreaming, and you should not be that very serious because it will stress you out. If I were you, I wouldn't mind first doing quests about spirituality, philosophy, and science which I know you want to. Try simpler and fun things first, and slowly advance.

      That's just my opinion.

I can tell you from experience, you've GOT to pick out goals beforehand. List everything that you can think of thst you want to do, then pick a couple of those and keep them in the back of your mind. Whenever you think about lucid dreaming, remind yourself what you want to do in your next lucid dream. Just winging it sounds ok, but when you're in a lucid dream you're in a very different state of mind than when you're awake, and just winging it or improvising becomes a very difficuly thing.

If you're looking for something a bit deeper, try meditating. That's my current goal, I've heard it's quite an experience. Although, I suppose practicing meditation in waking life might be an important prerequisite, though I'll admit I don't know much about it.

Yeah, definitely pick out your goals. My thinking skills go out the window when I'm dreaming, lucid or not.

I'd suggest meditating, like Supernova said. It's a very peaceful experience, when done right. Makes you feel very well-rested, too.

      A few more suggestions:
If you play any sports, you could improve your tennis swing/triple toe loop/hoops skills etc.
If you have any physical ailments, you could use creative visualization to help heal them.
Artistic? Making up music is surprisingly easy. Same with poetry. How elaborate or beautiful of a thing can you create?
Or, if you're really adventurous, maybe try shared dreaming. Is there anyone that you haven't spoken to in a while?

A lot of good suggestions, thanks to everyone for the help. I will plan something simple and remember it each time I do a reality check. Great tips. I think I will paint in thin air, reality graffiti And I will definitely have to try composing or playing some music sometime. I remember writing songs in my non-lucid dreams and I could play guitar %100 better than in real life. Maybe I could dream up a Dimmu Borgir cover band lol
