There are a couple of threads going over techniques and such, yeah it is strange to think, trying to stay awake while falling asleep at the same time is weird, but I t does work, the methods I suggested seem to work well for me, it is triky though when you begin to drift off thats the hardest part, remaining focused and consious.
Like I've said in the other threads, the WILD's ones in the general forum
I give myself a task, like walking along a forest path, I let my imagination come up with the path, but I focus on walking about every step about what I am imagining I am seeing smelling hearing, or walking up stairs, a stone spiral staircase is usualy my fav choice, visualise every movement you must take your hand running along the banister, how many stepsyou are taking with each movement of your leg is ther anything on the walls? the patterns in the marble.., stuff like that.
Or if you are into Martial arts put yourself in a setting and go over some of your kata, imagine it as vividly as you possibly can, evrey movement the feeling of your muscles and tendons.
Now about falling asleep this doenst really work well if your not all that tired as you are just going to keep yourself up. It works bes when you are beat tired, you will find that while you are focusing on all that stuff your mind will start to drift, your starting to fall asleep now, keep your body still, and keep trying to focus on the task at hand, let some of the drifting take you though, if perhaps you find youve come to the end of the stairs, see where it goes, let your imagination work for you but again you must remain aware of your surroundings of what you are experiencing.
It may take a couple of tries on separate night but you will eventually build up the focus needed to keep yourself consious as you pass into the dream world... and that is one of the most amazing parts, an explosion of senses it feels like experiencing life for the first time.
