Thread: What triggered your first lucid experience; what was your first instinct?

2. Do you remember what triggered your knowledge that you were dreaming?
3. What was your first instinct?

My first memory of being lucid was in 1st grade (around 6 years old). I was asked to solve a problem on the chalkboard, that was very difficult.

I knew then, that I was dreaming.

I became scared, that I would be trapped in my dream and not be able to wake up.

My first instinct was to try to wake myself up! I remember, I did something out of character for me, to wake myself up...I don't remember what it was, exactly.

It was very bright...... super bright is the correct term here? I felt very alive.... yet very asleep or the instinct that I was asleep and right there I knew I was dreaming being surrounding by familiar scenery, yet vastly different. The first thing was... WOOT I GOT ON THE BOAT!!! lol.

I must've been in the 3rd or 4th grade. I remember dreaming of being in a small room with blue tiling, overlooking some surreal landscapes. I was like "Hey, I'm dreaming", and immediately started touching everything around me. I was amazed by how real it all felt. I lost my lucidity in a couple of minutes, though.

The first one I can remember the details of, I was about seven. I was stuck on an island, and the big-lipped alligator from All Dogs Go to Heaven was swimming around it, waiting for me to come near the water so it could kill me. My homeroom teacher was on the island, too, but she wasn't being very helpful.

Somehow, I knew I was dreaming, so I made a deal with the alligator. It could eat me if that would wake me up.

There was an earlier nightmare where there was a black and red thing under my bed that was a cross between the devil (?) in ADGtH, and the Nightmare King in Little Nemo (but not Finding Nemo). I was tired of nightmares and wanted to wake up, so I crawled under the bed and got devoured by the monster. I felt a pins and needles sensation, then heat, and then I woke up.

So, CDFILD followed by an instinctual response to escape the nightmares through dream-suicide.

I don't recall my age, but it just was another Mars Attacks nightmare. I realized I was dreaming and decided to hide in a partially destroyed house and wait it out. Every time the aliens would get close, I'd will them away. Nothing spectacular, really.

i dont remember when exactly i started ive been doing it all my life, i never knew what lucid dreaming was until a few weeks ago though. i remember i loved it when i was a kid, it was like my escape from reality.
