Thread: !!! First "real" LD !

In my introduction in the Newbie Zone I said that I'd had a couple minor LDs before that lasted somewhere from 5 to 15 seconds.. but last night, oh my god.

I'd been doing reality checks quite a bit about a week ago, plugging my nose and counting fingers for the most part, and I also tried naming my subconcious, and doing the self-hypnosis method that LDGuy wrote out in detail. Last night when I was falling asleep I said something along the lines of "Nils (my subconcious) will remember I'm dreaming" and then addressed it directly and said "Nils, you'll remember that I'm dreaming" and I quickly fell asleep.

The only parts of my dream that I remember are the parts where I was lucid, and more will come back to me during the day I'm sure, but this is what happened:

I was sitting at my desk like I am now, and I either reached for or put down my pen and saw these two extra little fingers on my right hand. I can't even describe how excited I was, but I immediately remembered to stay calm, since the scene was starting to shake, and I tried to spin. At first I was trying to spin in the same way I would in the physical world, and I wasn't moving at all, so I tried doing it with my mind, and I began to move around and floated up out of my chair. I decided I would fly out of the room, because otherwise I thought I would be trapped, and my head got stuck in the ceiling !

Someone came upstairs and opened the door (I think my mom or my sister) and said "Oops, you shouldn't have done that." And the rest of my body moved through the ceiling into this small room, maybe four feet hight, that was just the space between my ceiling and other ceiling with a little hole in the middle that light was pouring through. I think I went through the hole and ended up in a completely different dream scene, which led me through some things that I'm not sure I remember, and then I found myself down in the living room. I decided to try a different RC just for fun, and so I plugged my nose and breathed through it. It made this great bubbly sort of sound, like my nose was full of snot, but I was most definitely breathing ! I went into my mom's deskroom, looked in the mirror a couple times to see if my face had changed at all, but I couldn't notice anything different.

I jumped through the mirror and came into the stairwell of some illustrious castle/hotel with amazing red velvet on the walls covered in these wood carvings of vines and flowers that were completely beautiful. All the wood in the place was this amazing deep red brown oak. I looked at my hand every few minutes to keep things stablized.

The man who owned the castle came in behind me and questioned my prescence. I recognized him from some popular little indie rock band, and he had a girl following him who is a prominent scenester from real life here in my city ! It was hilarious, and I guess she had come to his castle to "sleep over" for the night. They both just started talking about their favourite bands, so I quickly went for the foyer, which had incredible pillars in it with the same velvet and wood, and got the hell out of there.

I came outside into this bizarre landscape covered in fog, so there was essentially no ground, and there were a bunch of people milling about. There was sort of a miniature mountain off to the west, and this sort of bonzai tree that had been "potted" in cement and dirt in the middle of the fog. I tried flying quite a few times as I was walking along, and would drift up maybe ten feet off the ground and slowly float down. Whenever I tried flying I would do this sort of flying ninja kick move and I ended up getting stuck in the tree for a minute !

Everyone down below was looking at me strangely, I looked at my hand to restablize when I saw a man that looked like Mr. Weatherbee from Archie comics, and kept walking along north. I made various attempts through the dream to conjure things up, and reminded myself to "expect" things to happen, but when people or things would "peel" out of nothingness, they were never what I had "expected".

I did, however, expect to start moving across the landscape really fast, and I ran all the way to this little brick elementary school where some kind of conference was going on.

As an important side note, I was at a video store last night and a South Park episode was playing about Cartman joining this group of old pedophiles who called themselves NAMBLA (North American Man Boy Love Association).

Well this was pretty much what was going on in the school I had found. These old men were all walking around or sitting in steel fold-out chairs and holding coffee cups in their hands and chatting about old times, and there was one man that I "remembered" from when I was a child, and "remembered" that he had once tutored me in math for just one night (?!). He was sitting in this poorly upholstered easy chair, and I went and sat down on the floor beside him and asked if he remembered me. He said "Oh, oh of course, you were "NM0-1-0" or something like that and he put his hands behind his head and reminisced.

At that moment, a group of four men (my father, two of my former kitchen managers, and a man with glasses who I didn't recognize) walked by, and I followed them into a back room that was something like a well furnished garage from a bad sitcom, complete with lava lamp, coffee table, couches, chairs, and two bass guitars. The two bass guitars were carried in, one by the man with glasses and one by one of my kitchen managers. The strange thing about them was that on one side of the body, where the sort of "horns" sprout out that you hook a guitar strap to, the "horn" part was retractable(?). I was looking down at my hand quite a lot at this point just to keep myself in check, and the two guys with basses decided they were going to sit down and jam.

But just before their fingers hit the strings, the man with glasses sat back and said, "You know, I really just wanna make love to [Name of his girlfriend] (who I saw an image of for some reason: she was african, wearing a blue and white horizontally striped shirt like a sailor, had her hair tied up in the back in corn rows, had small, thick gold hoop earrings and beige capri pants with black high heels)".

Anyway, so he says he just wants to make love to his girlfriend, and so I said "Well if you're gonna just go, I might as well go make love to that NAMBLA out there (I was referring to the man in the easy chair) since I'm just dreaming anyway."

And the four of them burst out LAUGHING as if at first what I said was hilarious because it was absolutely PREPOSTEROUS, but then it turned into nervous laughter because they realized I was dead serious about them being in my dream, and so I was sort of on one knee down on the floor beside my dad, and I turned to him and asked "So how does it feel to be in my dream?"

He got incredibly flustered and made this awful angry face and screamed "WELL YOU'RE DIFFERENT !"

After that point I got too excited about having been able to make my DCs aware of their existance, especially my father (since he made me lucid in my two short LDs before) and I gently opened my eyes and scrambled to write as much as I could down. I thought about going back to sleep, but I was just too happy to have had such a long, amazing dream.
