    false awakenings

by Allie on 02-21-2011 at 04:33 PM
I had a few more FA's than this, probably 6 total. These are just the significant ones.

I'm taking pictures in a field. There's a white house up ahead. I'm with a girl, she's my friend.
The scene changes somewhere along the line to my grandparent's yard. I'm still taking pictures. My dogs are there, but they look like puppies. I take a picture of them.
I walk around to take more pictures. I walk up the driveway and I step in some dog shit. I look down. "At least it I'm not wearing my good shoes." I say to my friend. I look down. I'm wearing my Doc Martens. The bottoms look like my tennis shoes. I rub my feet in the grass. I look down at the bottom of my shoes, there isn't anything on it. "That worked well." I say

I wake up in my bed. I go downstairs. My grandma's visiting.
"Where's Cathy?" I say. She's supposed to take me to lab today.
"She got malaria." my mom says
"Ohh. Mosquito bite? I saw her get bit by one, it must have been that."
I want to show my grandma the awesome pictures I took (they really were awesome in the previous dream). I go upstairs to get my camera. It's on the floor of my bedroom. I go to grab it.

I wake up in my bed and try to get up. I'm floating. I float downstairs and out the door, but it's hard to control. I keep rubbing my hands together, which helps a little but not a lot. Strange, it has always worked to stabilize dreams for me. It's daytime outside. I see my neighbor across the street, Eric, who is always in his yard in my dream. I've never talked to him before this.
    "Hey, Eric!" I yell
"Yeah?" he says. He sounds closer than he seems to be in the dream.
"Can you come help me out?"
"Sure." he says. He seems pretty friendly.

He walks over to me and grabs my hand (I'm still floating). I'm wearing gloves. I take them off. He starts to pull me across the yard.
"Eric, are you my dream guide?" I say
    "Nope." he says
"Can you take me to him?" I say
"Yep, he's your friend. That's where I'm taking you."
"So.. how are you?" I say trying to make small talk. He looks at me with a blank expression.
"...how are you?" I say again, slower this time
"Oh. I'm alright." He says. Apparently he isn't a very intelligent DC. I see the shadow of a figure in my garage. I assume that this is my dream guide.
the dream fades and I wake up in my bed.

I lay in my bed for a minute. My cat is next to me. My sister walks by in the hallway. I look at the wall in front of me. There's some blue writing on it. I look at the writing and try to read it, it keeps changing. I become lucid. I try to walk out my door again, but I'm having issues. My vision is pretty blurry. I go downstairs and my vision melts to black.

I wake up in my bed. I look at my surroundings. There's a Winnie the Pooh poster on the wall. I definitely don't have one of those.. I become lucid. I walk out my door. As I'm getting downstairs, yet again my vision starts acting up again. As I get to the front door, I say to myself "When I step outside this door, everything will be clear." It works. I see Eric out in his yard again. He starts to walk over. He's wearing a black masquerade type mask and a brown shirt with what looks like a wolf and something else, maybe a wizard? idk.
    "Nice shirt, Eric." I say
    "Oh, thanks." he says.
"Yeah, it looks pretty badass. Will you help me find my dream guide again?"
"Sure, I just have to finish up with what I'm doing." He walks past my house. I'm not going to wait for him. The dream fades.

I wake up in my bed. I do a reality check. This time, it's real life.

Non-lucid; Failed Reality Check- Record Store dream. Ke$ha may cause the third world war.

by Allie on 02-07-2011 at 08:22 PM
I'm in a car with a DC that seems to be my friend. We just got out of school (I think). We're going to a record store to apply for a job. He drops me off and I walk in. It doesn't really look like a record store, there are shelves of other things, like socks. The owner of the store greets me like we've meet before.

He shows me a vinyl of Pullhair Rubeye by Avey Tare and Kria Brekkan. (in real life this album is backwards, so the normal record the songs are reversed and if you want to actually listen to the song forwards, you have to reverse it on an audio program or something).
I say "I'd buy it if I had a way to reverse it, do you know how?" (in real life, someone that had the vinyl version of this asked this question in a forum I was reading last night and someone linked to a youtube video of how to make a record play backwards)
He shows me a reverse switch on the record player, so he flicks it and plays the record. It doesn't sound like it does in real life, it's just basically white noise that sounds kind of like music. He explains why it doesn't sound like I thought it would, something about how the speed of the record reaches your ears. I accept this explanation.

My friend comes in and he wants to by some socks for his little brother. The man shows him some socks and he decides to buy them.

I didn't apply for the job, but I got it anyway. It doesn't turn out to really be much of a job, just hanging out and talking about music. The record store gets bigger and turns into something like a warehouse along the way. There's a group of people that work here with me, one a friend from real life that I haven't seen in a while, Zoe. We watch some rap video on a big screen. I don't remember the song, but the video consists of a guy in really big clown shoes stomping his feet. A member of the group says its a nice remix.
We read some music newspapers that are up on the wall, there's an article about Ke$ha. The headline reads "Do you think Ke$ha will cause the third world war?". It's a serious article. I make a joke about how horrible autotune is and that it's going to be the cause of the war. We sit at a table and discuss Ke$ha, her music and if she's a bad influence on kids. There's a whole survey about her and we start to discuss the questions.
"Maybe if her parents loved her more she would make better music." I say (I don't think this in real life, lol although I don't like her music)
this causes an argument about parenting.
We talk about Kesha some more.

After this, we have circle time and talk about ourselves. I can't remember exactly what was said here.

I see a sign at the front of the warehouse/music store by the door that says something like "RIP David Bowie". Looking back on this, I should have realized that it was a dream because I couldn't actually read the words, I just knew what it meant.
    "He died?" I say
"Yeah. It's pretty sad news." says the record store owner
"I totally called this! I knew he would be the next to die, after Michael Jackson and whats-his-name. You know, that old black guy singer, he judged on America's Got Talent."
"George Shopez?" says the record owner (my subconcious' version of George Lopez I guess lol)
"Yeah, him! I knew Bowie was gonna be the next to die. "

After this, I go out into the driveway and push a cart into the warehouse. I stop randomly to do a reality check. I count all my fingers on one hand, because my other hand is on the cart. all 5 are there and look normal. "Yep, it's real life." I think to myself. Looking back, I should have stopped and thought about my surroundings but everything seemed so natural at the time.

I continue with what I'm doing and leave the warehouse. I go to the dream car, but now my old best friend from real life who had a similar car to the one we were driving before is waiting for me. "I gotta get my backpack!" I say and go back to the warehouse. The dream ends.

After waking up I felt kind of stupid for failing the reality check. I'm going to try to be more careful next time and think about what I'm doing.
