      Mmmm I've had something similar a few times, though not when I was falling asleep. It was when I woke up, and I was lying in the dark and I very honestly thought I was laying backwards in my bed...

      Body distortions like this are pretty common as you fall asleep. You normally only notice them if you make a point of paying attention (like during a WILD attempt). I sometimes feel myself...

      What you described is a common exit technique for an OBE. You felt the covers with your dream body much like you would in a dream. No one knows for sure if OBEs and Lucid Dreams are the same thing....
