Thread: How often do you have nightmares?

I'm interested to ask this because, having now recorded around 45 dreams since I started my DJ, I haven't had a single scary or even mildly disturbing moment. In addition, I can't remember a single nightmare from before this, with the exception of one from when I was about 5 years old.

I read in Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming that "one third to one half of all adults experience occasional nightmares" and I assume these are people that don't even record their dreams.

I have virtually never watched a horror movie or read about scary/paranormal things (I say this as it may well be a contributing factor) although I do have a mild fear of spiders.

How often do you have nightmares?

I don't recall having one since I was a kid. As hard as it might be to believe, I actually miss having them. I used them to fuel my creative side when I was younger by turning them into short stories.

Not that often. Rarely.

Like you Nivv, I don't really watch horror films or read gory books. They don't really appeal to me as such.

I do however get anxiety type dreams or one's that have sinister elements or ovetones to them, but I don't class them as terrifying or nightmarish.

I get real, terrifying, shit-your-pants type of nightmares about...once a week. Sometimes slightly less. I get disturbing/uncomfortable type of dreams just about every night, at least lately.

I don't recall ever having a nightmare.

IF I sleep at all, it's every time I fall asleep. I tend to either stay awake for as long as possible to avoid them, and pass out for about three days, or I meditated throughout the night.

I haven't had a nightmare for eons. I read horror novels and watch horror films, and the only thing it does is creep me out sometimes before I go to sleep (checking closets, LOL!) but other than that, my choice in horror, as junk food for my mind doesn't seem to seep over into my dreams. And that, I'm quite greatful for indeed. Good question.
