Thread: witness to war atrocity

In the early 1980's I had a dream of being a disembodied spirit called upon to witness this:
I found my consciousness, or disembodied spirit, in the highlands of an arid rugged mountain range. In a valley was a tiny settlement of flat roofed houses made out of adobe and stone. I was called to enter one of these abodes, where a platoon of western type soldiers ( U.N. or American ) had just rescued two of their own. One of the rescued was starved but otherwise not too badly injured. But his comrade had been partially roasted over a small but intense fire until his buttocks and part of his thighs had been cooked off. Horrifyingly he was still alive and conscious. One of the rescuers looked right at me and said without speaking, See what Men Do. This dream woke me up with a profound sick at heart feeling.
Years later when I saw photos of Afghanistan I recognised the topography and type of housing. Before that I had never seen that part of the world on the news or anywhere else. I may have been subconsciously influenced by events in Afghanistan with Russia, but I know I never saw any photos of the place. Who or what called me to witness this, and for what, are mysteries to this day. The dream was so realistic it gives me a chill just thinking of it.
