What do I do with my bad dreams?

For the last couple of months I've been having insane, horrible, disturbing dreams. Just as I was preparing to get serious about recording my dreams every day, this started happening. I have no interest or desire to record and/or remember these dreams. They were bad enough when they were happening.

However, they are almost a nightly occurrence and have completely messed up my plans for LDing by starting with my dream recall.

I realize that these dreams are probably due to some things that have happened recently and will probably take a while to fade.

In the meantime, how do I continue with my plans to record dreams? The good/normal ones are so few and far between, I don't even think it will help to record them. Or will it? Or should I just skip dream recall for now and focus on some other way of LDing?

      * Recording the bad dreams is not an option btw *

      Any suggestions would be great!

Hmm. In any other case, I would say that I believe it would be important to record the bad dreams as well, so that you can try to get to the bottom of why you may be having them, but you seem to know what might be the cause, and are adamant about not recording them, so that tears that. Heh.

In the meantime, though, I'd definitely recommend that you at least try to record what good dreams you have. The more significance that you give those good dreams (the intention to write them down and remember them) the more frequent they should be. If you wake up after a bad dream, just try to let it go. Even if it's the only dream that you remember, upon waking, push it away and try to remember that, at some point during the night, you likely had good dreams too that may just be harder to remember. Take a moment and try to bring them to the surface.

Just be sure to keep up with writing down whatever you remember. If you start getting lazy with it, the only dreams that will probably be significant enough for you to remember will be the bad ones.

It's ok, it's good to talk about things. I'm better now anyway.

My grandma passed away this xmas and a) I've been having dreams with her in them (which is normal) but, also b) they're weird dreams (which is probably normal too), but I'm having trouble getting a handle on them. It's uncomfortable dreaming about her when it's some screwed up weird scenario. It's bad enough dreaming about her, but then add the weird things that you're mind cooks up, and it's torture to wake up in the morning and remember things.

Also, the dreams without her in them are super strange as well. It's just not........I don't know....me. It's not my brain. And it's been happening since xmas.

But now that I think about it, I've been kind of ok the last few days, so maybe even just getting it out like this has helped. Hmmm....interesting.

Definitely record the good dreams and I would definitely not watch horror movies or disturbing stuff and try to focus on all the happy stuff in your life and maybe the dreams will stop or become less and less frequent.
