Thread: Recurring dream - or theme? May be a bit graphic/violent.

I've just posted an introduction, but I want to explain my dreams in more detail. I'm not sure whether it's a recurring dream or theme, because they all involve me getting shot, but in different circumstances and I react differently each time.

In my first dream, my friends and I jump out of a taxi at an all night ATM attached to a bank. The bank has a glass facade and as I’m using the ATM I look inside and see men robbing the place. They shoot at us through the doors and I get hit in the neck. As I'm lying on the floor trying to staunch the blood flow, the men come out from the bank. A couple of them walk past me and I see my friends, one of them is dead, the other is shifting on the ground but is executed. A third man comes up to me and points a gun in my face; by this time I’ve decided to play dead but he isn’t fooled. He pulls the trigger several times and my vision goes red, but I try to hang on and eventually wake up. I remember feeling scared about dying at the end of the dream and feeling scared after I woke up.

In a similar dream I was standing in a wooden attic, with a man pointing a gun at me. I hesitate for a moment but then decide to attack him. He shoots me in the stomach and we’re struggling for the gun when I wake up. I remember feeling really angry when I woke up, I really had the urge to break something.

I’ve had a few more dreams like this that I can remember in even less detail. In another I was shot and while I was lying on the ground I began to fight it and then decided not to, and just let go. After waking up I felt fine… then that scared me.

Now I start freaking out when I’m just walking around, like I’m slowly developing agoraphobia. I’m really at a loss to interpret it, because I’ve never had a recurring theme or dream before and I don’t really know much about them. So, I’m open to any suggestions… - Cheers

If this nightmare is recurring, can you go lucid once in it?

You feel that the selfish desires of others is causing you harm. Even when you surrender (or play dead) you find that these people continue to take advantage of you or cause you (and those you love, ie. the friends who got shot) harm.

The attic and the ATM situation tells me that your possessions or your money situation is causing this. Something material is putting you in these situations where people will continue to cause you harm.

Oh, and stay away from malls.
