      Sunds

Alright, well, I was watching the new show on Spike called 1000 ways to die, and they had this one where a girl died from a nightmare. She always had the same dream every night. Some kind of creature would sit on her chest and choke her. She would thrash around and scream in her sleep, but was unable to wake up. Her heart rate was so accelerated that she died of a heart attack. Since the 70's, when it was discovered, 100 people have died from it (less, somehow, than the number of people that have died from tipping vending machines over on themselves. 6 a year for the machines, 3 a year for the SUNDS). SUNDS Stands for
      Sudden
      Unexpected
      Nocturnal
      Death
      Syndrom
      Thoughts?

i saw that episode of 1k ways to die and started looking on the internet. ive had about 6 dreams like that girl had. The first time i was about 13 and i was staying with my uncle and aunt and south carolina. well in my dream I could see my physical body like 3rd person but i was still in my body. In the dream im laying in bed and then a dark figure appeared at the door. When i saw it i instantly became paralayzed with a fear i had never felt before. The figure was neither aggressive or made any movement to me. But the mere presence of it left me incapable of any movement but a muffeled whimper. I then woke up from the dream, but as soon as I woke up i was back in the bed staring at my physical body from the 3rd person again, the figure was still standing there and i still couldnt breathe. At this point i woke up again only to have this happen a few more times.

Almost all the other dreams happened like that except for a few minor differences.

I looked online and it says this is a common disorder for asisan males but im a 21 year old caucasian male

Has anyone else had a dream to the extent like that ?

There is a comon plot in these dreams when i have them:
i normally see my physical body
      dark figure
      intense fear/horror
      paraylzis / unable to speak
can't wake up (wake up and immeditaly fall back into the SAME dream)

can anyone help me figure out a way to stop these or defend myself when they happen

It's not sleep paralysis... She could actually move. However, there was something that happened in her brain during these episodes where she couldn't wake up. And in case you didn't read the full thing, it wasn't the dream that killed her. The adrenaline got her heart pumping too fast. The official cause of death was cardiac arrest.

Do a reality check. Even if you can't move, there has to be some way to do one. When you realize it's a dream, just change your surroundings. If you want to stop them from ever happening again, you could try something drastic. I'd say killing it with some kind of holy sword would work. (Imagine it glowing white. Anything holy, especially light purging the darkness, comforts people). Generally, if you destroy an evil character in one dream, it stops coming back.
