Have only had nightmares since childhood...

For some reason, some cruel reason, I have only been able to remember nightmares, which seems to be about every night. As a child it allowed me to begin lucid dreaming to confront the various creatures and problems out of overwhelming fear. While this allowed me to start lucid dreaming at a very young age I have never gotten to experience a positive dream. Even when lucid dreaming there is always one charactor that I cannot change or get rid of, even if I change the scene or everyone else out of it. It seems to be in every dream as one thing or another trying to attack me. I was hoping that someone to give me some advice on how to begin having less confrontational dreams so I can have a more relaxing dream life. Thanks for your time and input.

Hm I don't know what advise you're hoping for, but did you try visiting a psychotherapist? Constant nightmares don't sound good at all. And I doubt that you'll be able to deal with them in any other way than to deal with yourself somehow. Or maybe with the bad atmosphere around you.

Nightmares are what started my lucid dreams.
I am still wondering why the nightmare elements are still continuing to play a part of your dream life. It could be something is trying to resolve or deal with powerful events in your life, particularly unsuccessful past/or conflict dilemmas. I would encourage you to explore your personal dream symbolism, and try to resolve.

Anyway back to your question, relaxing dream life: Create a room, in your lucid dreams.
Set it apart from all other realms and know that only you hold the key to enter.

Know that this room is private to you & secret- only you can enter it.
This room you create is a sanctuary, temple, or simple quit place for yourself where you can enter be yourself. A inner sanctum, and when you leave you lock it knowing that you are the only one allow to enter.

You can create a collection of memories, have paintings, art, or
have one wall as a portal to meet others through.
Your hopes & desires and all your memories are here & could be displayed in the art or paintings in the room.
Keep returning to this room to notice changes that occur over time.
I play broccoli with checkers every night.
