I'm not saying it needs to be matter. I'm asking why doesn’t it need to start out slow. A drag racer starts out below1 mile per hour somewhere near the speed of 0 and all things have to increase speed from there but not light After it has left the starting point it is already traveling at top speed. ? My question is, is there a way to explain this phenomenon?
Yes,I have a theory that can explain this. I have had this theory for many years and have not herd anyone else come up with it.

Well I haven't ever studied physics, so correct me if I'm wrong, but if it doesn't have mass, then there is no reason why it has to apply to the rules governing mass. Acceleration and momentum and velocity apply to mass, not energy.

Well I've never done physics and so that is only what I have learnt from books etc.

Its probably not light untill it reaches that speed.

Don't all subatomic particles have some mass? A very small ammount to be sure, but they do act much like matter in other ways. For example: If you put a pinwheel on its side in a vaccum and paint one side of the paper white and the other black, the light will reflect off the white side and push the wheel around. These particles are small, but at the speed they travel they can exert a significant ammount of force. They are also affected by gravity so they must have some mass.

Anyway, what was your theory?
