Why not?














My Dad had a buddy in college who had that question as a philosophy final. He wrote "why not?", got up and left. Got 100%. True story.

Why oh why.., why Mr Anderson, why?!

We can't answer all questions...why is a question we always ask ourselves, yet cannot always answer.

So you can do your classwork

why did he ask the question why? and that is a serious question!!

my geography teacher said that you haven't finished answering a question until you run out of 'Why's'...

i think what i meant was, what was the question?
was it a question that had the answer 'why?'

or did he make a statement, and then tell you that the answer was why?

Yeah, I like Coldplay, and that's the first thing that came into my mind when I saw the question "Why?"

its amazing how many different answer i get with that question. when there's really only one answer. maybe two

How are we supposed to answer that? We don't even know exactly what that mouse is doing that we hear in the wall. I don't see how we can even know if the universe is finite or not. I don't even know how my wife's brain works. That's okay though, I know what I need to know. I know what I can observe. That is all we are intended to know, otherwise we would know more. That's my feelings on the subject.

That is about as unprecise as you can get.
If you ask an unprecise question you'll get an unprecise answer.

Answer: Purpose

Its like when your a kid and you ask adults questions like 'why'?

Kid: WHY is that toilet seat BLUE?
Kid: WHY does that man have no Hair?

It usually goes into the realm of annoyance when they keep repeating the question and the parents are usually like 'because…..that’s why'.

Do answers have to have a purpose?

of course answers have to have a purpose...it's about conclusion, closure.
Imagine if a man asked a woman to marry him, and she said 'why?' what a passion killer!

an answer to a question can lead you down many different roads, depending on the answer you give.

Answers DO have to have a purpose, when you think about it. I guess thats the reason for asking the question.....

why ask a question if you don't want to know the answer?? (this is starting to smack of my billy connolly thread...)

I've had people do that, say, 'i've got to ask you a question, but i don't want you to answer it' and i'm like 'wtf??!'
