The Politician, the Drunk, and the Average Man

My friend today was in a philisophical mood(somewhat rare, but insightful when it occurs), and he said that there were three types of people in the world:

The Reasonable Man, who are somewhat intelligent and posess common sense and the ability to apply reason to most situations in a successful, or at least thorough manner. These people go places and often make good money, all politicians(excepting perhaps those of political families) belong to this group, but it isn't limited to them. I would say anywhere from 10-20% of people fit in this category. The Elite are those in this class who are consciouss of the differences in these classes and who take advantage of it.

The Average Man is the stereotypical Joe six pack, completely ambivalent. He doesn't attack problems with reason, but with the reason of others. They follow without consideration and are easily fooled. As long as life remains easy for them, they don't need to use their minds. These people make up maybe 60-80% of the populace. They work for people because they're told to. The Eilte take advantage of them for personal gain.

The Outcasts are those looked down upon by the average man, drunks, druggies, crooks, and the anti-social. Their separation is the most confusing one. They can use their minds, but they use them in strange, and often innefective ways, perhaps they are the average people forced to try to think. Their rejection by their peers and lack of confidence in their own abilities drives them away from society and to further persecution by their peers. They make up maybe 10-20% of the populace, probably closer to the lower figure.

This classification seems fairly accurate to me, my friend's idea was to stop trying to fight it and instead take advantage of the situation. I think that might be smart up until the point where I have the power to change this situation, or at least make people conscious of it.

What do you think about these ideas?

Hmm it is a bit of a generalised and cynical view of the world, but on the whole I'd have to say I agree with you.

I'd probably add another class though.... the creative/inventive people. These people probably also kind of fit into the Reasonable man class and the Outcast class as well. They're the people that invent new things, the Einstiens, the Da Vinci's, the Picasso's... they're not content with living the life of the Average Man, and through their own exploration and preparedness to explore and create they inevitably enlighten the lives of all classes through new technology or whatever it may be.

Many of the greatest minds and creative thinkers in history would fit into both the Reasonable and Outcast categories.

The only thing I take from that is, there is one person who thinks another is different, and there is one who doesn't. But then there may be a different perception, of that statement.

I think you're thinking of "when two men meet, there are really six of them: each man as he sees himself, as he sees the other, and as he really is"?

Anyway, no, that's not what I meant by that.

Those who live in the Future. Uncertain

Those who live in the Now! Focused!
