      Basically, yeah. The power source is the metabolism of glucose into usuable chemical energy (most commonly adenosine triphosphate). When the organism dies, metabolism stops.

      The question I have for you is not why does it reside in us, but rather why does consciousness have to occur externally? Occam's Razor... Unless there's a darned good reason to suspect it doesn't, why add the complexity?

      I don't want to hear about the brain from someone that doesn't have one.
      Nor do I want to hear about evolution from someone that hasn't evolved.

      Consciousness - is a function of the soul, (given at the formation of man, by God) so to interpret sensory stimuli, and that stimuli is then relayed unto the spirit, then it is by discernment, determined to be either good, or evil, once discerned then the interpreted information is relayed the back unto the soul, for mental processing.

      I'd love for you to explain the symptoms of agnosia within that definition of conciousness.
