      don't know if it has been said already but my thinking is either that you would create an alternate timeline in which you were never born and your grandfather was killed.
      Or
      This timeline would prevent him from dying at all costs. If you shot him, he would somehow be saved ect.

      Infinite universes (One for every possiblility of everything ever)
      Past=Present (Everything is already set to be done, and you [attempting to] killing your grandfather is part of it, so nothing really changed (You went from were you were to where you were))
      It's impossible
