Well, in response to brady's question, those people who have never heard of Jesus can not be expected to believe in Him. In turn, they will be judged by their character and their obedience to the laws set forth by their society. Everyone has the capability to do good and be loving, and everyone has common sense.

As for autistic or mentally-handicapped people, and I'm talking about those who can not control what they do, they will be judged differently. I mean, you can't punish a child who can't understand that they're doing something wrong. Most of these severely mentall-handicapped people are just as children and must be cared for as children.

With those two, it's about accountability. Once you know what is right and wrong, you are responsible for doing what is right and there will be consequences for your actions, be they here in this life or the next.

Secondly, about love... God is love, but God is also just. You can love a criminal, but they still need to be punished for what they've done. And this is where Christ comes in. Christ is the intercessor betwen us and God, and when belong to Christ if we do something wrong and ask for forgiveness, we have someone to vouch for us. Now, if a criminal here on earth came before a court without a lawyer and tried to plead his case by himself, what are the chances that he would be honestly believed?

If I died and stood before God today and I didn't belong to Jesus Christ, I could say, "I've done this, this, this, this, and this for you." If that were the case I would end up hearing a lot more things that He's done for me than I ever did for Him, not to mention all of the wrong things I've done. I'd much rather have someone to vouch for me than go alone.

I don't know everything that God would say or how everything works precisely. I just know what matters in the end.

Ok, so what about me? I consider myself a pretty decent person...a little sarcastic at times, but overall, not too bad. But try as I might, I can't possibly understand how gOD could exist. Using my 'gOD-given' brain power, the concept of an all-powerful creator makes absolutely no sense to me. Is this my fault? To me it seems like I'm in the same position as the autistic girl, born without the capacity to understand. Am I going to hell?

What about the cannibals of Papua New Guinea?

How about men from the Middle East that subject their wives to abhorrent treatment in the name of Islam?

Or the homo-erotic right of passage rituals administered by members of the Sambia tribe?

In all of these cases, the participants are abiding by the customs and laws set forth by their society. So even though the aforementioned acts go against "most" Judeo-Christian beliefs, will the participants still be accepted into heaven?
