What if we come in contact with aliens.

If mankind would ever come in contact with another life form (we would be their 'aliens' ), how would relgious people try to explain that? Didn't god just create a single world? And if it are inteligent organisms, like humans, and they don't have a religion, yeah.

But I am sure religious people would find an exuse. Not long will they be able to dodge the facts of evolution. Most smart christians accept the fact anyway.

However, what if we prove evultion is real, with such proof that not even christians can deny, and if we would explain other stuff... ok actually we allready have enough proof to say a christian god is 0.001% likely.

Yet, back to the subject: Aliens, what would the pope say?

That as Vicar of Christ and the Patriarch of Rome he is the ascendant and most amongst equals. Regardless, the Church preserves the concept that Christ is the Lord of the Universe. Earth being but one place in His domain.

It'd be quite a sight to see religious fanatics demand the aliens to convert to their religion. Then they would eat their world after seeing them pull out some advanced alien-military grade photon rifles.

Nooo, an evil space lord burned aliens in volcanoes and forced thier souls to watch movies of Jesus in a huge cinema. The souls then latched onto humans and that's why there are bad things in the world.

hehe, i went into a scientology building one day out of curiosity (absolutely stoned out of my gourd ).

they hooked me up to some electrical graphing device (i forget what its called...a lie detector essentially) which supposedly told them something about me. then they took me into this room, shut the doors, and i watched a movie with an overview of scientology.

*laughs* it was an interesting way to spend an afternoon. at points i had to muffle my laughter with my hand....

i think you're referring to this premise palliate:

"In the secret texts, portions of which have been widely leaked by disgruntled members, Hubbard wrote that Xenu, the leader of the Galactic Federation, solved an overpopulation problem by freezing excess people in a compound of alcohol and glycol and transporting them to Teegeeack -- which we now know as Earth. There they were put in volcanos and exploded with hydrogen bombs.

And hence our spirits became infested with evil alien spirits, called "body thetans." There could be untold numbers of such bad thetans fomenting problems in each of our souls and minds.

To become truly free, Hubbard teaches, parishioners must detect these alien invaders and get rid of them using the E-meter device (Hubbard's lie detector). You hold a metal can in each hand and focus on a point in the body where a sensation or pain is perceived. Only through such rigorous "auditing" can they be removed -- allowing the untormented Operating Thetan (the OT) to emerge."

      Is it our earth?

What if we are living on this earth but are still aliens?
Perhaps another life form had lived here before we ever existed, rendering us the aliens on earth.

Dude, I know plenty of Scientology. I wanted to know what it was all about, so I took a Dianetics course. I was horribly trained by an amateur pro-bono employee of our local Scientology church, and had to endure several hour or 2-hour long "auditing" sessions. Look up this term if you don't understand it. But it's a sort of regression therapy that you are not allowed to stop.

Imagine going over a painful memory over and over again in as much detail as possible, in hopes of it loosening it's emotional grip on you so that you can attain a level of "clear" an ultimate state of beingness where you can help others by overcharging them for a mountain of Scientology media.

The E-meter is a crude version of what perhaps to be an EKG machine, some sort of energy or electrical current detector. When we think of anything with an emotional response, there is energy that runs in our body abnormally (duh) and the e-meter is glorified as some Godsend, no wait, Hubbard-send that serves as the only way to tell whether we are free thetans or not.

I'm starting to sound like I know a little too much about the religion (I mean cult), but if you have questions about it, I'm here!

It is really not an issue that needs to be commented upon. There is no Doctrine or Teaching that specifically addresses Other World's.

.... Well, there is the problem of Anthropomorphic Priority... that the Human Race has been so specifically addressed. If another Intelligent Species were to arrive on the scene, there would be those whom might wonder how Morality and Religion, Spirituality and such would apply to them.

Right now the closest comparison we have is the debate about 'Pet Heaven'. Believe it or not there are those who insist that our beloved pets are souless lumps of material who are deprived of any part of the spiritual reality that Human Beings might enjoy. But my most favorite Prophetic Vision that I found on line -- Philip Kramer's "My Brief Experience in Eternity and What I Saw http://www.aculink.net/~catholic/africa.htm ... it takes us through Judgment Day, the Social Structures of Heaven, Hell and Purgatory, and yes, the existence of Pet Heaven. Very enjoyable and informative reading.

I would suppose that extraterrestrials are likewise to be treated as the Pets in Pet Heaven... that Divinity would be more than capable of providing for other Moral and Spiritual Beings.

However, there may be the problem of Will and Volition. If the Extraterrestrials are without any capacity for self-reflection -- displaying the moral context of Big Insects, then we could seriously consider whether they indeed had any Spiritual Dimension to allow for. In the same way that many people live almost a purely material existence, if it seemed that the Space Aliens were to take that even further... that none of them showed the slightest hint of moral or spiritual concern, but were entirely about eating and reproducing -- then it would be fair to dismiss them as ... well, big bugs.
