I'm just curious... what is Satanism all about, and how you consider it logical? (For those who are satanists)

I've been curious about this for quite some time now.... This should start an interesting conversation.

Good thread. It would be good to get some candid insight into Satanism. But, I expect this thread will be flooded with upset Christians. Unfortunate, because, information is a good thing.

I'm an atheist myself. But I do know a few Satanists. They're a mixed lot. I think "Stanism" incompasses a wide variety of beliefs. There will always be those who are satanists just to be "cool" or "alternative" or whatever, and haven't really thought seriously about their beliefs. But there are also those who take it seriously. I'm not entirely sure what varieties of Satanism involve, and would be interested to find out. Any nice Satanists out there would like to inform us?

Great reference. I just finished reading a lot about it... though they also appear to be hypocrites unless I'm interpreting their beliefs wrong.

They so they dont believe in magic, molestation of children, murder, etc... Then what are all the rituals for? and the use of swords?

Thats where I was lost... but other then that... it seems logical. Although I would never consider it to be a religion, more a guide line of ethics.

Also, they do not believe in an after life. They believe once you die, you die. Your memories are the only part of you that remains, untill they are gone too, then there is nothing left.

EDIT: Another thing I couldnt find... I was wondering what satanists take on the earth was? Do they believe in the big bang theory? Or?

Interesting topic. I did a bit of research on this. Interviewing "satanists" and the like for a school project on black metal bands that often claimed to be satanic.

A lot of what i found was that satanists don't actually believe in satan... interesting.

I think satanism is a religeon formed by goth people who just wanted attention so they put "satan" in the title of their religion. sorry for the bias view but i think it is stupid

I think the title is a bit on edge... but if you took the time to research it, a lot of what they say makes sense.

Right now, I'm not sure about my religion...

I would have to say its somewhere between agnostic and border line christian...

But by no means am I an athiest.

Yeah, That is a common misconception of Satanism.

I myself am a christian, and hold no offense by this topic. Satanism intrigues me as well.

Satanism is NOT Devil worship. Satanism and Satan worship are entirely different. Devil worship is, in a technicallity, still christianity. Only difference is your worshiping the bad guy. Satanism is the worship of the self. Putting yourself before anyone, and treating yourself. You are your own god in Satanism. Its kind of a selfish belief, but on the other hand it, like anything else is based on the Golden Rule. Do onto others as you would have others do onto you. In Satanism, if someone screws up, you screw them up. Basically its even the odds. Its not much in terms of compassion, but it does bring out the true human nature.

Nope. It was formed by Anton Szandor LaVey in 1966. It is a religion and a philosophy based on man as he really is: a carnal being free from the fiction that is spirituality and one who champions total responsibility, pragmatism, and the here-and-now

And I'm a Christain as well and this doesn't offend me.

Keep in mind that Satanists, like most people, enjoy Halloween as a secular holiday, and some with Wiccan or Neopagan sympathies may be inclined to honor the dead but cemetery vandalism, cat sacrifice, and the myriad other random crimes and urban legends about Satanists and Halloween are NOT accepted Satanic religious practices. Well at least that's what they say.

      lmfao.... Cat sacrifices... hahaha

I think it would be pretty fucking halarious to burn a cat alive... cept I would never go through with it.. It'd be funny to see in a video though. Otherwise it would gross me out... and it would make me feel a tad guilty. lol

Ok those pics, what are they?

Anyway I've read up a bit on what Anton LaVey has to say (whatever his name is) and there doesn't seem to be anything inherently evil about it. I mean the closest thing to evil is like where it says if someone comes into your home and insults you or harms you you can destroy them. Ultimately though, its about what you want. Indulgence in self, which has to ties to do unto others as you would have done unto you.

It also has to do with consequences to actions, if you want to kill someone you must understand the consequences thereof and be prepared for it.

As for devil worship, well worshipping anything other than god is idol worship, which is devil worship, so buddha and all the rest is devil worship (i think, as i understand it).

Well wiki might be crap sometimes, but for certain things it is ok. I think for sensative subjects or history it would suck, but to find out simple medical or chemical terms I guess it is ok.

Anyhow, satanism is a bit downgraded by Christians, they arn't any more silly then Christians themselves in my eyes. I think the real satanist (not the posers) don't even really sacrifice small animals, do they now?

Ah, who cares, muslims do the same, no sweat.

      You spell biased like this.

I never had the opinion that Wikipedia was biased and crap, but I'll be more careful when betting my life savings on the info in there lol.

Anyway I think the problems come when religions defy progrss for society, and moral codes. For example, wiccans believe in different Gods and Godesses, and they perform rituals or spells to help themselves or others (mostly). Theses spells or rituals or beliefs don't hinder any of us (logically at least) and they don't affect any of us, morally (morals are subjective here as is everything else).

The problem comes in when instead of performing candle burning rituals, the person in question performs innocent blue eyed baby burning rituals. Morally it's wrong, and it affects the immediate community, as well as the rest of us (what if that blue eyed baby was the guy to discover how to cure every disease?) and is a hindrance.

If everybody would leave everybody else alone, save for where guidance is needed, we'd be ok. I don't care if you won't drive cars and push buttons on friday, or think masturbation is bad, or don't like pork, or perform spells. So why do you care what I believe? Only if I believe in self mutilation or supporting Manchester United, well then I'll accept a bit of guidance.

      Fuck you, leave me alone.

I think neo-satanism is as bogus as neo-shamanism or neo-paganism. But of course that is a personal issue...

I've read the Satanic bible and some points I agreed with, with some I disagreed. Same thing happened with the Bible, Buddhist texts or any other "philosophical/spiritual" texts.

If you want to be a satanist? be my guest... you wanna be a christian, be my guest... but don't annoy other people with your beliefs! keep it for yourself... and keep it nice... don't harm anyone or anything... then I'm happy (lol)

Now I tend to be skeptic about "organised religions"... No-one knows what "the real deal" is... So Imho you can't say the Muslims are right or the Xtians are right or the Satanists are right... They are all right and wrong at the same time...

It's a shame that the christian beliefsystem has such a duality... RIGHT VS WRONG... the hindu's allready knew that right and wrong are interwoven and that it is all part of perception... An action can be good for some but bad/evil for others.

I disagree cause then worshipping Maria or Jezus would be devil worship too... cause they are not "GOD"...

About the pix... I posted them cause pictures say more then words...
(note that I'm just a boy with intrests not a scholar so I tend to make mistakes, so do your own research)

First pic: Melek Taus AKA "The Peacock Angel" for some it represents the Devil for the Yazidi it's just part of their religion

2nd pic: The Devil in Rennes Le Chateau... Built by gnostic christians who knew what the Devil was all about and again it was probably part of their religion

3th pic: Pan... The horned god... Demonised by the Catholic Church, worshipped by our (white race) ancestors

4th, 5th & 6th pic: Nag Hammadi Texts... Texts that were found wich contain a Genesis story where the snake is good and god is evil... again... perception

I thought the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit were one in the same? So worshipping Jesus would be worshipping God. As for Maria, well I dunno maybe I'm wrong but my point is not that, my point is that anyone that doesn't fit in with the (I think it's catholic in this case, or am I wrong?) christian religion is an idol (because other gods don't exist, right?) so is devil worship.

So Maria probably isn't devil worship, but if you can worship Maria you can worship Moses, or Noah. Would a catholic minister be happy if I worshipped Noah? I kinda like Noah. He liked bunnies.

What is your point? Halloween is just funny. And satanist are just funny, let them be. Not like they eat the body of Christ like you do.

      Haha thats a valid point!

For a matter of interest, the bible says that if a man marries a virgin (and obviously performs his marital duties) and then dies, it is his brothers responsibilty to take her as his wife.

So I know someone who's mother left the family for another man because when she was 16 she slept with a guy (a spiritual union one would say, she lost her virginity) and then fell pregnant and had an abortion. Then this guy died later. Anyway she got married and had children and was happily ever after untill this guy who died's brother comes along, and then she runs off with him and justifies it with the bible.

so christianity is even more funny than satanism if you ask me

Thanks. "Biassed" is one of those words I actually KNOW how to spell, but frequently misspell out of habit.
