first things first... i'm agnostic... i don't know... i know that i don't know... i know that you have no way of knowing.... and i know that if you say that you know... you're full of shit...

      so my point comes now:

prove, or disprove the existence of god in one sentence.

How do you want someone to prove you the lack of fact? The question is irresponsible in itself.
      I'm tired being sorry.

i want someone to justify to me their beliefs. fact or not. the question is the fundamental question you should be asking yourself before you venture into any theology deist-based or not.

i don't want you to prove anything. i want you to justify your beliefs and actions... if you can't do that... well... i'm sorry for you.

My actions are based on a general approach of not doing any harm to others. And also on taking care of the environment and being a matured, responsible person...
That's it. Does it need to be justified?

jacobo, if you read the definition of the word "belief", "faith", you'll find out that it doesn't contain the word "proof", that question has no place.

Now, this isn't to say that I am for "faith" in anything, I strive for full objectivity - anything is possible and nothing is impossible but unless I -know- something is in existence then I won't "believe" theories, because, as said before, nothing is impossible but it all requires ways to be achieved. Unless I -know- something, who cares about things I don't know? Not much sense is there? Caring about something you don't know?

But wisdom is in objectivity, in striving for complete objectivity.

I actually agree with Keeper for once.

And you said it yourself: It can not be done. It can never be really proven... or un-proven. However, you can say or it is very likely or not. In my eyes, the existance of hunderds if not Thousands if different gods in cultures, egyptian, greek, scandinavian, ect, ect, that makes the existance of One Specific god, like a christian one, unlikely. Also the fact that religions tend to 'evolve' somewhat, like alot of things in culture do. The romans copied and changed somewhat the greek gods, the christians changed the old testament and the islam also is tied to the same mythological world as the jews and the christians.

      Therefor: Specific God: Unlikely.

      -

To tell you that any super-inteligent-super-being is unlikely, just ask yourself why there would have to be one. The universe is perfectly 'capable' or being just as infinite and eternal as a god. Actually, since all matter in the universe was lifeless, before evolution came, it seem just physically, biologically, just unlikely to have a super-duper-inteligent-dude. Or dudes, if you want to follow the egyptians, or the romans, or the scandiavians with their kick-ass Thor.

Ahh it seems at last this thread has been started from an intelligent point of view, not one blinded by faith
you see an atheist is so far absorbed into his belief in a alck of God he is blinded
for a theist the opposite is true
an agnostic is a man who has studied both sides and reached the inevtiable conclusion tht niether side has strong enough evidence
but then again many theists are also agnostics Jacobo
many Theists wil ltell you, they believe in God but they do not claim to know wether he is
obviously there are those so warped that they claim to KNOW of his existence

I never heard about that before! They even have a religion!

It's hard tho; when you just don't believe, it's hard to doubt enough to become an agnostic! Even one who doesn't care! I like this tho, I may start calling myself an apathetic agnostic rather than atheist, even tho I still don't have any doubt. Religion is full of hypocrites!

      It has every hypocrisy
u tell me that that God exists and that he created the universe and I ask you how do you know the universe wasnt alwyas there
you say everything needs a cause
      I say whats God cause#
you say hes always been ther
tht is a prime hypocrisy is it not
      apathetic agnosticism
is knowing that you dont know wether God exists or not yet knowing that even if you had proof of his existence you wouldnt worship him
if ur an apathetic agnostic you bleive that the question is academic and taht its only point is for further knowledge
      not relgion based
      =D

if the universe has existed forever, then why is it loosing energy?

That;'s right. I was gonna say something along the lines of "believing" doesn't mean "proving" and that not everyone has to have a certain religion to believe in God or whatever.

Do I believe in God? Yes. Why? A childhood experience that I don't really share. I don't need to prove it. No one does. It's a belief and many times, a private one that only needs to feel real to the person believing
