What are the facade's of God

I don't mean for this to become a debate on whether there is or is not a God.

I am however curious to know from both theists and atheists what the facade's of God are. Whether they be from the actions of false religion's from the theist's point of view or the atheists views of the possible misguided fallacy's of god believers.

I'm looking for things from religious abuse in the name of god to the potential folly's of the very belief in a god or god's.

I came from Colorado City Az. I'm sure some of you have heard about Warren Jeffs on the news lately, pretty messed up dude, so I've seen some pretty hard core facade's of God and I'd like to get some other intelligent peoples perspectives on the facade's of god.

This is meant to be a non confrontational thread, I hope it doesn't turn into a debate or argument about who is right or wrong. I do hope it will be something that everyone can use to see the others points of view without judgment or criticism.

The facades of God, in my opinion, are the myriad ways that a religion is used to justify a predetermined objective, doubly so when the objective is forbidden by that religion. The facade, then, is not the misguided logic of believers, but the cultural protection that abusers of religion receive from their beliefs.

Religion is used as a shield by the wicked, protecting them against all forms of punishment, whereas virtuous believers only receive protection from their own impulses to do evil, if they receive any protection at all. It's no surprise that religion is commonly used to justify wrongdoing.

      That's my view, anyway.
