Thank you for the citation from wikipedia.

You list the crusades as some sort of reason why christianity is bad. Tell me where do the crusades appear in the bible?

They don't! So what youre doing is blaming bad people's acts (a human problem) on Christianity.

And you use this example when you nothing about it! Yes, Nothing ,about it; did you think that Christians spontaneously decided to go and reclaim the holyland on a whim? NO, you amateur. For example the first crusade was prompted by acts of persecution and murder against Christians in Turkey. This is comparable to the way America has reacted in contemporary times and with relevance to their invasion of Iraq. Tell me, are the American's murderers as well? It seems that an answer of yes, would be consistent with you evaluations on the crusades.

Just as a percentage, I'm sure that there are more murders of religious people, and I'm willing to wager that there's more murders from Christians than of Atheists. Morals are morals. They are pretty much always set in stone and are pretty consistant, whether or not you believed that somebody climbed a mountain and got them from God himself.

I was talking to wannywan when I said the bolded phrase, and I was joking, if you actually read my posts! Or is it your bad memory again? Anyway, you managed to write a whole paragraph on my joke, following your first paragraph where you called me an idiot because my posts were supposedly a waste of time! This is what happened symbolically:

You threw a stone at my house, yet, you missed your target and the stone became lodged in the gravitational field that surrounds you amazing large head. After completing a manouver that would make Apollo 13 gasp (the stone catapaulted around your head) the stone picked up speed and ended up flying in the opposite direction from which it was thrown. Unbeknownst to you, your house was made of glass and it was smashed by the stone you threw. And of course as a result of your gut wrenching, ball twisting stupidity, you will end up blaming me (lets see!).

What are y'all actually arguing over?

Whether christianity is a bad or good influence in the world?

It causes good things, and bad things..

There aren't any absolutes when reffering to it. Sure some of you can say its more good or more bad, but that goes without saying, its just opinion thereon in.

It seems pointless to argue over. I personally don't have as much a problem with christianity as alot of people on here.. the main thing I know about is arguments for God's existence.. which after thinking i have decided do not on the whole stand up at all.. and then combining that with what i know of histroy, logic and common sense I am an atheist.

I never really feel in the zone arguing about whether christianity has killed more people or whatever.

One thing i think people should remember is soft atheism doesn't require any faith- ie there is no evidence for god, and all evidence in the field points to god being a creation of man.. so we assume that there is no god.

Of course there is the possibility certain things ie the columbine shootings would not have happened if the kids were strong christians.. but the same goes if they were strong existentialists or whatever.. i think incidents such as that arent solely faith based on either side.

As far as sauron goes i was just demonstrating how you caan be interested in something or someone even if you know they don't exist.

That's why i study both mythology and theology, because i find Myths and God and biblical whatnot interesting.. it doesn't mean i believe it exists.

I think both sides in this debate are too extreme either way it seems
