There are three part to an apology:
- Admitting a mistake
- Saying it will not happen again
- Asking how you cna do better

You skipped all three.

Yes, your apology sure makes up for centuries of bloodshed, conversion-at-swordpoint, and scientific interference.

Because, after all, being a small, persecuted minority, you Christians are in the postion of all positions to make such an apology.

I was apologizing for those who have met Christians who have "Mistakenly" thought they were better then others---just because they believe... when you think about it--nobody is better then the next...

A better question: is it meaningful to apologize? What is an apology worth to the dead and slain?

Spirit, thank you for apologizing for the snobbiness of other Christians. You are not responsible for it, though, as far as I know. I think some of the snippy reactions you have gotten in this thread come not from your deliberate gesture of peace, but instead from your unintentional threat. I at least assume it was unintentional. You said that we can only be saved by Jesus. I know you have been taught that that is a kind thing to say, but atheists will generally take that as a threat of eternal torture, which is the worst threat that can possibly be made, by far. Think about it. You meant well, apparently, but you did say in a round about and unintenional way, "Join my religion or burn forever and ever." That is the message of Christianity that pisses people off more than any other. The elitist snobbery of so many Christians on an Earthly social level is very minor compared to the big time threat that the religion's message carries with it. Keep that in mind. But thanks again for the kind aspect of your post.

Judeo-Christianity has historically been militarily, economically, socially, the strongest and most powerful of all religions.

What does it mean when a man holds all of the weapons and instruments of power in some context, shoots you, and then apologizes while still retaining all of the guns? The man can still bring harm to you.

Apology only has context between equals in strength, or from the weak (and fearful) to the powerful.

I'm not trying to be an asshole. I'm simply asking him what his real motives are, because there's nothing to be meaningfully apologized about to us heretics. It just makes him look like he's trying to prove something to himself and look like he has some nebulous moral high ground.

He could go about to his fellow Christians and spread his message, and it would have more effect. At best, maybe Christianity would become overall less bad in the very least. At worst, it'll set Christians against each other, which I'm fine with too.

It's that which set me off. When not just Christians, but anyone else tries to involuntarily include me into their theology, it precludes whatever message of friendliness they try to bring.

It's nothing I haven't heard before. And it's a pretty bad argument. Imagine a mass of water looking around at the glass which holds it, notes that the glass is in the same shape as itself, and thinks "This glass must have been specially made for me!"

You apologizing doesn't make up for the other third of this planet, and it doesn't rid the world of seperatism, hatred, ignorance, arrogance, hypocrity, and stupidity that your religion (along with nearly all others) instills in it's followers.

This thread was either a joke or pointless. Instead, just act differently than most others do. There will always be idiots in the world; the most you can do is distinguish yourself from them and join others who have done the same.

you dont even need to have religion to have all that you listed above..its pretty much what our world has come to now days...

besides with what you stated in the second half of your comment, covers atleast one of the things you listed above... and the comment that i just made..covers it as well...

Fail, and repetition of point 1.

3. Does God exist? "Chance" or "natural causes" are insufficient explanations.

Nobody claims chance as an explanation, and if something exists it automatically becomes classified as natural so "natural causes" isn't an explanation either.

Funnily enough, the author didn't explain why god is a good explanation. I guess it's implied the "ZOMG MAGIC" logic.

4. Does God exist? To state with certainty that there is no God, a person has to ignore the passion of an enormously vast number of people who are convinced that there is a God.

Centuries ago everyone believed you could cure diseases by bleeding. The cure for AIDS has been found.

5. Does God exist? We know God exists because he pursues us. He is constantly initiating and seeking for us to come to him.

Yes, yes he is. Take for example the tsunami from the indian ocean earthquake in 2004, god made thousands of people come to him.

6. Does God exist? Unlike any other revelation of God, Jesus Christ is the clearest, most specific picture of God pursuing us.

Err... why?
