Toddler with eight limbs branded 'reincarnation of Hindu god'.

      See here.

"The extraordinary eight-limbed baby was born in a poverty-stricken region of Bihar, India - on the day devoted to the celebration of the four-armed Hindu deity Vishnu."

      Heavy stuff.

I half expected people over there to be "what now? Where's your Jesus now?"

Ha. I hope at least the doctors in that area aren't taking this seriously. It's obvious to everyone else how this happened.

Edit: Oh wait I just read the article.. so they ARE going to remove the limbs. If they actually believe this is a reincarnation, isn't doing that unholy or something then?

wow 8 limbs....You can't argue with evidence. No doubt the atheist's on here and
Hindu-phobes will try and make up some silly counter argument about a genetic defect...Parasidic twin etc.

      Rationalize all you want........... bastards.

If she can manipulate them, they should wait on the surgery until she can decide for herself. It doesn't sound like its an immediate emergency and I have to say, I think I would at least like the choice to keep 4 extra limbs. Maybe she'll become a woman-spider superhero. Or maybe she really is a reincarnation of Vishnu and she'll be pissed once she becomes enlightened and realizes someone lopped off half the body she's used to having.

I doubt she can manipulate them. I don't think I've ever heard of a case like that where the person could... I mean technically those arms aren't hers at all. The extra limbs are probably also getting in the way of normal development of the rest of her body. But I guess they should all be extra nice to her just in case.

If you read the article, she can't walk or crawl and doctors predict she wouldn't live through her teens without surgery.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

There you go... I can now say I am wrong. Take that Christianity! Looks like the Hindus were right after all!

Seriously though, if the surgery helps the kid's ability to survive, then by all means, it should be done.

It's a parasitic twin-- The arms aren't hers.

Doesn't necessarily mean she can't manipulate them. Obviously the extra shit is hooked in through her circulatory and nervous systems, otherwise they would have just died off. The doctors say she can't walk or crawl but it may be because it takes just a little more time to figure out how to actually use shit she wouldn't normally have.

Yes, instead of hoping she's a reincarnated goddess or an indian female spiderman, they're going to have them removed like a rational person would. She'll die otherwise and if she can't walk period, even with her limbs with the twin there, then obviously it needs to come off as soon as possible. And thats what they're going to do.

National Geographic is going to do a special on the whole thing. In fact, with some digging, you may find that the surgery is already done.

Survive in poverty stricken India? Well I don't know. I guess I wouldn't want to "die" but you know I would be getting the fuck out of there.

Xaq, if you read carefully and look at the picture...they aren't joined by the correct vertebrae. They are joined at the pelvis..where the bottom of the pelvis is there, but the head on the other end isn't. She isn't able to send the correct electrical impulses to the vertebrae on the other side. It is like she has a twin with a missing head attached to her by their butts. In fact from what I can see they are joined by what looks like the sacrum. I've never heard of conjoined twins being able to move each other's body parts, and aside from a head, she is a conjoined twin. Its circulatory systems apparently are joined together but its nervous system is not.

Actually, all it takes to defeat Yahweh is iron chariots.

      I've heard similar stories...

And seen similar things on television, the internet, and in books, and it sort of makes me think back on what I learned about the Hinduism, and the paintings of the Gods Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma, etc. It may be possible that they were people who actually existed in ancient times but, instead of looked down upon, feared, or thought of as demonic creatures (in which some religions will revere persons with deformities as...), they were viewed as people with extraordinary abilities, or Deities. I dunno, over the years those have just been my thoughts on this subject. Anyone else here ever had any similar thoughts? Or am I all alone here?

I don't get the "iron chariots" reference. Where is that from?

In the OT there is a verse that says how Yaweh wouldn't go over a mountian because the people there had Iron Chariots.

They say she's a hindu god reincarnation while ignoring the fact her extra(useless) limbs will bring her suffering and eventual death? I shouldn't say anything about their beliefs. Let them believe...

What? For real? So much for infinite power. I had no idea God was supposed to ever once have been scared of any people. If you can find that Bible verse, I will post you a gold star. I thought the verse condoning killing slaves might be the verse that takes the cake, but I think you might have brought up a big contender.

      Judges 1:19
17 And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.

18 Also Judah took Gaza with the coast thereof, and Askelon with the coast thereof, and Ekron with the coast thereof.

19 And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

I thought the Christian God was supposed to be powerful!
