well not alll but lets just say most people that are within that age like ive noticed when i try to talk to them about god or opening up or being open minded and just everything that basically logically proves that god doesnt exist and if he does then hes being a pussy bitch and hiding lol i dunno but anyways well ive noticed that i can never get through to people in that age range im not sure if its them being that generation of people and like they just grew up with all these things being instilled in there minds as they grow or if its just past expierences thats happened to them and all they could say is like thank god or look to god because they couldnt just believe in them selves like seriously people dont even believe or have faith in there own fucking human being !! they have to belive someone else is gonna do everything for them i mean whats that shit...i also think people who believe in god and only that are small minded... seriously i mean i dont say i belive in god but i dont say i dont i just keep and open mind whats soo bad about taht?

It's just that the longer someone has a belief the harder it is to change it. For example, in the middle ages people thinking the earth is flat for their whole life will burn you on the stake for claiming the earth is round! Once beliefs are fixed, they are very hard to change, and not only that, trying to change them will usually result in you getting burned. Luckily only as a figure of speech now adays

I had a long discussion in the car with him explaining abiogenesis and evolution, the many inconsistencies in the Bible, and the many different things we now know about the natural universe today that disagree to an enormous extent with the bible. He offered many arguments for Christianity, but they were all either misinformed, or easily broken down. I've been discussing it with him off and on for the past month though. What are his beliefs now? Agnostic.

Usually it's hard to "get through to people" while simultaneously offending 40 years of idealistic investment and telling them it was for nothing. It's easier to give up one's fear of an invisible authority figure than to acknowledge than you have been wasting your time.
