      Religion Series; Please Read!

      A'hoy hoy,

I would like to take a new approach to religion and spirituality forums. I hope you guys are up for it. There are a lot of smart and creative people out there, so I hope you are interested. In the last years of DV, I have noticed that religious debates and discussions are definitely a functional part of the DV experience - just like any other forum!

      Here is what I would like to do;

Let us create threads of specific religions and relate different contexts, art, literature, explanations, and arguments for it. There is to be no debating the falsehood of the religion as this is not the point.

      Here is the mission statement for the religion series;
      - To appreciate the development, art, and literature of all religions, beliefs, and ideas.

The keyword is appreciate. While discussion is obviously a very important part, the fact is that many religions have already had centuries of debating and a lot of literature attached to it. Let us share this!

Share the artwork that is themed with buddhism, atheism, and judaism.

Share your songs that you think are primarily themed in a certain ideology.

I will try to start with my personal favourite; humanism.

Of course, I would love to see other people choosing a religion to discuss! However, not just a "jews" will do. Please give a few links, description, history, etc. for the religion. I will try to give a format ideal in humanism.

      What do you think..?

      ~

I like this idea very much.

If anyone goes ahead and makes a christianity or Catholicism one I'll get involved with talking about some of the art happily.

This sounds like a good idea. Something productive might finally come out of R/S. I'll make a Discordian thread, though I don't really practice it as a religion, more like a hobby.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

Let me know when you are going to make threads about buddhism or Kabbahlism, I have been reading books and can produce true information from the leaders and masters themselves.

Honestly I would like anyone to make any thread they feel like. If you made this post, I encourage you to make the thread! I would gladly contribute to it, but I do not feel I have enough insight to initiate it.

I had a thread on the values of Christianity but it did end up a debating thread.

I might make a thread on Thelema.

However this will take alot of work and I fear it may be deleted by invader - who deletes my posts whenever I quote Thelemic scripture.

He thinks I am trolling - but Thelema is in actuality very anti-christian - therefore so is much of its scripture and art.

Because wikipedia doesn't focus on one aspect of a thing. IF someone finds like, a piece of music or a book particularly in tune and representative of their personal religious beliefs, then they are going to write down how and why. Wikipedia gives us a basic cummary of what something is. in most cases it won't go into any detail at all about themes, not to mention that the value people find in these things may be entirely personal, or not recognised by the wikipedia writers.

That was a very stupid thing of you to say.

      No need to get touchy.

I wasn't trying to be aggresive.

Also you said that wikipedia writers might not recognise what people value about certain subjects but the writers of his might not either.

I'm not trying to diss the idea, I just don't want people wasting their valuable time when they could be responding angrily to posts and insulting people instead, like you.

      This is a forum

      Wikipedia is not a forum

Do you see the difference now?

A wiki link might be useful just to introduce the idea of what religion is being discussed. However, the discussion and forum is what is different.

It isn't being angry or insulting if you say something stupid and I say it's stupid.

      That's just saying what is.

Well then won't it be the same as it is now, if you want to read about a religion then go to wiki or another source, if you want to discuss it then come here.

Also, Carôusoul, I couldn't help but notice that you didn't respond to my point and just continued talking shit instead.

But at the start you say that you want to take a whole new approach to R/S

Yeah. I guess either you really dont get the idea or I didn't state it properly.

Here's the idea in easy form:
      - Choose a Religion
      - Make a thread
      - Have a small intro (even a wiki link) then relate some literature, art, or other culture that you find to relate to that religion

      Easy?

I think what he's lacking is any background in how R/S @DV normally operates
