Using Dreams to Recall Forgotten Thoughts.

I've been thinking about something for awhile and I wanted to do some research on it with everyone here at Dreamviews. This thing I have been thinking is using your dreams to recall forgotten memories or thoughts.

      Short Introduction

Everyday we learn new things. We also forget things too but our brain just doesn't discard that thought, image or memory. I think our brain stores that information somewhere in our mind even if it's a short glance at a face while walking through the city.

For example lets take DC's or Dream Characters into consideration. I think when we dream either two things happen when we dream of a DC.

      1. It's just your imagination. Just a simple image thought up of and made into a charactor.
      2. You have seen this person before but you just don't remember seeing them and your brain puts that person in your dream so it doesn't have to create a character from scratch. This person too could be someone 5 years ago that you just walked passed while you were walking into a store.

So what if we could take this a step further and give us another reason to lucid dream. I want to see if it could be possible to fully recall lets stay.. what your teacher wrote on the board today at school. You could re-imagine the scene in a lucid dream and read of the board like you were actually there.

How This is Going to Work

Every month, (or every other) I will post up a set of tasks. The set of tasks will have a theme each time I post up a new set. Each task will consist of an exercise for you guys to try in a dream. The exercises would be fun to try and could possible be a goal for you too. As time goes on, the exercises may get harder as we collect more data on what we can and can't do in a dream because you never know, that text your teacher wrote on the board the other day might be un-readable in a dream.

Please also post your experience while attempting a task even if you failed. I'm sure other people would like to read it.

If you choose to post your experience, please include the method you used to become lucid like WILD or DEILD. Also try to include as much detail as possible like clarity of the dream/ stability and etc.

I will also archive each task sets when I post up new ones.

I will also post up any experiences me and you guys think should be here on the main post. I will judge on the # of "Likes" it has received by other members.

      --------------------

      January - February Tasks!

The theme for these set of tasks will be:

The senses. (Smell, Touch, Sight etc.)

      Short Description:

We will be testing some of the senses in this set of tasks so we all can get an idea to see if the things we read, touch, see in the real world will be the similar to the dream world.

      1. Find a pack of food in your house. Read over some of the nutrition facts. Try to remember as much as possible. Once your satisfied, place that food in a spot that you can easily get too.

Next in a lucid dream, go to same spot you placed that pack of food and again look at the nutrition facts. You want to see if what your reading in the dream is the same or close to the same of what you read in waking life.

      -------------------

Once you have completed that, find a different pack of food in your house. This time just skim over the nutrition facts. Make sure your able to see all the information on the nutrition label. Again place this pack of food in an area where you can easily get too it.

Next in a lucid dream go back to that pack of food and read the nutrition label on back. See if it again resembles what you read in waking life.

The objective of these two tests is to see if in our dreams you can see what you read on that packet of food even if you only skimmed over the nutrition facts and didn't take the time to memorize what was in that product. We are also testing if what we memorized would be accurate in our dreams.

      2. In your house, find something that has awkward texture to it and rub your hands against it feeling the texture. For example, I rub my hands against the bumpy arm of the couch in my living room.

Next in a lucid dream, go to that same area and attempt the same thing. So I would go back to that same couch and feel the texture of it in my lucid dream.

We are testing to see if what we feel in waking life will be the same or similar to what we feel in a dream.

      3. Find something in your house that has a strong smell to it. Smell it and try to examine the smell of the object you chose as best as you can. Put the object in a place you will remember.

Next in a lucid dream, go to that same object and smell it again.

In this test we are seeing if what we smell in waking life could or would smell the same in a dream.

      4. Find any household object and drop in on a hard surface. Examine the sound it makes once it hits the surface. Put that object in a place you will remember.

Next in a lucid dream, find the same object and drop it in the same place you did in waking life.

We are testing to see if the sounds will be similar.

      5. Find a pice of food in your house. Take a bite out of it and examine the taste while you eat it.

Next in a lucid dream, eat the same thing and compare the two.

We are testing to see if food may taste the same in a dream.

Be sure to post your lucid experiences!

PLEASE COMMENT ON ANY OTHER TESTS YOU THINK MAY BE SUITABLE FOR THIS TASK SETS THEME.

That sounds like an interesting experiment and specifies some things I already wanted to try anyway, since my lucidity rate skyrocketed recently and I don't expect it to go down I might be able to post something here soon. That's an nice idea.
Personal Records so far: Max lucids per day: 2 | Max lucids per week: 4 | Max lucids per month: 8 | Max dreams recalled in one night: 17
      Longest lucid dream: ~35min | Highest flight: zoomed out of common existence [WTF?] | Fastest speed: FTL | DILD/EILD/DEILD [X] | WILD/VILD [X] | MILD/FILD/HILD [ ]

My friend just recently told me a story. He said that he lost his wallet but then he had a dream that showed him exactly where it was and when he woke up, it was in that same spot.

I thought that was pretty cool lol.
