And yes! Quiting enhances your recall and memory and all things good. Something to do with oxygen intake and less toxins and chi and clarity.

Smoking dope definitely affects my dreams, and from what I've read and discussed - other people's too... there's dozens of posts about it e.g. http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/inde...showtopic=1908
more recently:

Stopping after a binge seems to produce film epic type dreams (supposedly THC suppresses REM - this lack of REM kinda creates a debt which gets repaid all in one go...)

Not sure about nicotine - but I'm giving up at New Year so I'll report back here.
A friend who gave up by using nicotine patches (24 our release) was convinced they were giving him nightmares.

Quit for 1 day - last nights dreams were pretty chaotic, no lucidity and recall wasn't good. Bit like I'm feeling now!!!! Didn't even try writing anything down - the only fragment I remember now was poking a demon in the eye with a stick, but she just enjoyed it and asked for more!

I can attest to that. While quiting cigarettes using the patch, dream vividness and strangeness was way up there.

It definitely affects your dreaming. Especielly if you smoke weed and take a break. I couldnt agree more with slimslowslider, both my brother and I always have an extreme uprising in dream activity a few nights after the break has started.

Im sure its the same for all "drugs" (things that are bad for you, including coffee and candy)

When I do the WBTB method, have a smoke helps. When I go back to sleep after having one, I almost always have a LD.

Smoking weed does decrease your recall. That is if you don't do a wbtb. If you stay awake for a while after have 6 hours sleep, you'll drop into almost fulltime REM. Perfect time to become lucid.

(btw, my sig is very old. this works almost every 5 days.)

I have been wanting to quit smoking, but haven't made an attempt yet. It's also quite hard when you live in a house with a mom around that smokes too.

BUT I find this Topic a good motivation to give it a Try.
I also smoke weed; something I find beneficial to Mind exploration and Meditative/Creative processes like DayDreaming, Writing Music and Making Graphic Art so needless to say I don't plan on stopping.

I used to smoke Rediculous numbers of Joints on a very frequent basis in the past, but nowadays I smoke much less. I started by smoking in weekends only ( innitially to get more Clearminded, have more Dreams and to counter my THC-tolerance so I get Higher when I DO smoke weed; It worked wonders ) and now I just smoke weed very sporadically. I won't smoke any weed for a week or sometimes 2. The I would buy some weed and smoke it up in the following 3 to 4 days and then not smoke any weed for another week or 2...and so on.

We all know weed, like Alcohol and all other ''Depressants'', supresses REM-sleep, actually decreasing DreamTime.

However now that I smoke weed so infrequently and sporadically it actually serves to give me these remarkable REM-Rebounds delivering me this insanely vivid and wild dreams every now and then and a generally much better Dream Recall.

And indeed, what you said Pyrox, Weed can actually be beneficial to Lucid Dreaming when you Combine it with WBTB.

I am gunna Try this next time I get weed, which will be Tomorrow.

I dont think you should force yourself to quit. There comes a time (perhaps not for everyone, but for those who need it, and are lucky enough to encounter it before things go bad) when you realize it fucks up your brain. Im not saying it fucks up brains, just that sooner or later you (can) realize that it does. To you, that is

Take me as an example. I also used to smoke insane amounts of weed, wether I was home, in school or taking a walk. The only thing on my mind when I had some weed in my pocket, was weed, and the only thing on my mind when I did not have som weed in my pocket, was weed. One dark night, when I had outsmoked my brother, his friends, my friends, and everyone was blacked out on either the floor or the sofa, I would still puff some more, and after about three phat bonghits this voice inside my head said that "this is enough, you dont need this much weed, man". Shortly after that I quit smoking, was clean for 6 months, and MY GOD, was my brain working better? Jesus (thats a yes)

Nowadays I smoke sporadically on weekends, mostly when Im drunk. The other day I bought some weed because my girlfriend asked me to, she smoked some, and I kept the rest. Thing is, when I have some weed, I smoke constantly until its gone. Thats why I never buy weed for myself, but smoke when offered, and try to repay in some way. I will not buy weed for myself again, for a loong time, because I and a bag of green sweetness just doesnt mix to good. I get dumb and numb.

To get back to the point
(sorry about all that bullshit, but its part of the thingie here)

If it makes you creative, and you dont kill anyone while expressing your creativity, and you still can make the ends meet, why quit? Youll know when to quit, dont worry. Your "sporadical technique" seems to work quite well, so do mine

As fellow smokers I shall send you a friendly thought next time Im getting comfortable with sweet mary j.
