As a part of an experiment I'm currently conducting I'm interested in knowing if the WILD transition phase (hallucinations, vibrations, etc) are present every time a person falls asleep or not. Do these symptoms exist only because people retain their awareness (thus they are caused by awareness) or do they exist regardless but we simply forget them?

I've been searching the internet, but couldnt find any specific case studies.

Anybody got an answer/link/suggestion/personal experience that might shed light on the issue?

      Personal experience only.

Until a couple of years ago I experimented with WILD quite alot, also and Chi Gung and 'energy' work etc. Various methods (my favorite being what I called 'seeing with eyes closed&#39 but I'm not sure how 'official' they were. Plus some experimenting with more 'official' methods such as Tibetan tantric dream yoga visualisations. Not exactly sure what 'vibrations' are - presumably there's a range from mild tingle to epileptic fit? But I can say that I used to WILD successfully almost every time and never experienced noticeable (strong) 'vibrations' which I'm imagining are more like shivering/ shaking? I guess its partly because I was focussing on visualisations not my body? On the other hand I have experienced a range of strong body sensations when doing Chi Gung (especially macrocosmic orbit stuff - 'Iron Shirt' / 'Embrace Tree' etc) and also with certain tantric sex exercises!

As to hallucinations - again not sure what they are. The only 'hallucinations' I've had whilst doing dream work have actually been false awakenings. How can you have a hallucination if you are dreaming/ day-dreaming/ visualising strongly? Occassionaly had voices in my ear in the later stages of a WILD (enough to 'wake'me) - but maybe I was already dreaming?
