Mind Calming & Dream Recall

Dispite the fact I can't LD for my life, I would like to experiment with Dream Recall.

The past several nights I have tried a Hypnosis Technique, granted I fall asleep before I can finish it, I do calm my mind and tend to remember my dreams better. I wish to test this and see if diffrent mentaly relaxed points and there effects.

To do this you must simple try diffrent Techniques of calming your mind. Music, Envisioning, Book, ETC.

Fell free to use your discretion on this, try your own technique, someone elses, or my own.

1: Ldguys Hypnosis Tech.
-I tried this, and my dream recall improved drasticly for about 2 weeks.
2: Envisioning
-Try diffrent surroundings, I myself have tried FLoating down a river, you can try anything, Beach, Mountain, Hot Springs, ETC.
3: Music
- I know someone is already trying this, but this could be used with Envisioning, Expecialy some Sound Scapes, such as rain and water.
4:Books
-Can't think of any surroundings, read a book describing something surreal.

PLease report back to me what you did on a said night before falling asleep, and how well you Remembered you dream.

Thx.

This is Ironic you say it in this fasion. For when you say You cannot LD for your life puts a hint in the back of your head that you can't. And if you do not think you can, then chances are you will not be able to. Also Lucid dreaming coencides with good dream recall. So your experiment may incubate somthing for you more than just good dream recall. A LD maybe

I aslo wanted to add that meditation, which is discussed frequently in this forum is yet another way a lot of Dream Views members find a useful way to relax.

In Exploring the world of Lucid Dreaming, Stephen Laberge has a few tips on relaxing. I would encourage everyone to get this book. He discusses a Progressive Relaxation technique and a 61 - point relaxation technique.
I will see if the art team can work on getting the figure to study.

The 61 point relaxation technique

1. 61 point relaxation image Study this figure This figure illustrates 61 points on the body. To do this exercise, you need to memorize the sequence of points. (This is not difficult, because the points are arranged in a simple pattern) They begin at the forehead, travel down and up your right arm, then across to your left arm, down to your torso, down and up your right legs, then back up your torso to the forehead.

2. Focus your attention on one point at a time
Begin at your forehead, focus your attention between your eyebrows and think of the number one. Keep your attention fixed at point one for several seconds until you feel that your awareness of the location is clear and distinct. Think of yourself being located at this point. Before moving on to the next point, you should feel a sense of warmth and heaviness at this spot.

3. Move through each point in sequence
In the same manner, succesively focus your attention on each of the first thrity-one points. Proceed slowly, and imagine you self being located at each point as you reach it. Feel the sense of warmth and heaviness before moving on. Do not allow your mind to wander. At first you may find this difficult to do: you will find that at times you suddenly will forget that you are doing the exercise and start daydreaming or thinking about somthing else. IF you lose your place, return to the beginning or the last numbered point you attended to, and continue. Practice with thirty-one points until you can attendto them all in sequence without daydreaming or losing track.

4.Extend your practice to include all sixty-one points

When you can attend to thity -one points in sequence, repeat steps 1 and 2 with all sixty-one points. Practice this until you can do all points without losing your focus. Now you are ready to use this exercise with lucid dreaming induction techniques.
