      The HIGH Technique

      HIGH= How I Got Here...

      On numeous lucid occaisions I've noticed that my reason for attainting lucidity at the time had everything to do with the chance of my remembering that I had previously been somewhere else. After this event the mind naturally re-traces the steps from then to "here", or, in the dream. The HIGH technique, like Reality Checks, is a mind-trick of sorts that I have yet to test to determine its efficacy. I plan on giving it its first try tonight.
      The plan is to spend a few minutes at random points in the day retracing the immediate steps recently made, as in, "I just put down that cup. I walked across the carpet. I am opening this door", etc. The point is to tailor the conscious into a pattern, much as RC. The culmination of this tech., however, is to do a brief 5 minute assessment of the day before sleep, and to pay close attention to the surroundings of the time, "I am in my bed. These are my covers. I just took a sip of water. I am going to sleep." The emphasis on transition is what should next be focused on. If you can lead yourself to believe that you WILL be going somewhere, after paying close attention to where you really are, then the arrival at the destination, the dreamworld, should be exponentially realized.
      With each affirmation of recent actions, as in the ones mentioned above, there should also be an accompanying RC after the full list of re-tracing. This is to add weight to the notion that one is NOT asleep, leading to greater and/or more tactile induction of LDs based sheerly on contrast of experience. Considering that dreams have a blank beginning, by automatically backtracking to that blank end, provided that the HIGH tech. is ingrained in automatic process, the induction of an LD should be inevitable. I'll spend the next week or so testing and perfecting this technique. Feedback would be cool if anyone is going to try this with me.

      Oh, and Happy Holidays you sleepfreaks.

      This is a technique I consistantly use when I do reality checks. I take a moment and think about what I've been doing for the last several hours and how I got to the place I am. I do believe that there was something similar to this in the tutorials section, so I will go check now.

      That is a very note worthy observation torcher.

      I feel what you are saying coencides with what I was trying to say in the post A new approach to the wild thing.

      You just explained it better.
      Notice Seeker's Idea to rethink the WILD tecnique!!!

      Thanks for your feedback. I've not tested this as much as should have. I realize its congruence with the WILD tech. I based this theory on the notion that WILD is maneuverable, so to speak, as in it is up for interpretation. I'll be trying it now, at 5AM (what a horrible sleep pattern I have...). Anywho, I believe a process like this should be given ample time to develop, as it seems to demand a significant amount of aside time referencing the "re-tracing" aspect throughout the day regarding whomever is using it. I've meditated a bit, which may prove fruitful, and am hoping that the fruits of my minimal labor will lend to the HIGH tech a modicum of worthiness. Thanks to those of you who considered this approach. You have my lucky wishes for badass dreams in the near future!!
