Hi everyone,
My name is Jasper. I'm a 19 years old IT-Student from The Netherlands, and I've been interested in Lucid Dreaming for over two years now. Some time ago, I read an article about food, and how it effects the human brain. The taste of chocolate for example triggers the production of opioids which give you a feeling of love and hapiness. But what are the effects of taste and smell on dreams? I want to contribute to this amazing forum and the LD scene in general by conducting an experiment...
I'm looking for DV-members who are willing to test the effect of taste or smell on their dreams by eating or smelling a product listed below just before going to bed. It doesn't matter if you're an advanced LD'er or if you didn't have any LD's at all so far. As long as you're able to dream and taste/smell.
I've been thinking about this experiment for a few days now, but I still haven't found a good method of conducting it, and I'd also love to hear your stories about the influence of taste and smell on dreams. So please reply and tell me what you think about it!
The tastes/smell I'd like to test in this experiment:
(taste) Garlic
Probably the most discussed topic when it comes to the effect of food on dreams. A lot of people are reporting a lot of very vivid nightmares after eating garlic. Other people experience very strange dreams that make absolutely no sense. It's also said that garlic causes insomnia.
(smell) Rose
I heard that the smell of roses causes sweet dreams. It would be a great help for people who are suffering from nightmares.
(taste) Mint
Mint is said to cause vivid dreams, and some people are even reporting having more lucid dreams after eating mintleaves, or drinking minttea just before going to bed.
(smell/taste) Cinnamon
I heard about the effects of cinnamon on dreams here at DreamViews. Some people are experiencing very memorable, colourfull and vivid dreams after having some cinnamon before going to bed. If this is true, It'll be a great help for beginning LD'ers who are just starting a Dream Journal.
