Thread: Why are so many new members making 1,000s of posts each day?

I put this in Senseless Banter so peoples post count wont rise

A question floating in the air for people to answer....

Dude, you are SO freakin' reading my mind. I mean, some of these people joined freakin' two months ago and have already hit double my post count, and I've been here since early '04. I mean, I post whenever I see something worth commenting on, and I browse the site multiple times a day, but I just can't see how people can talk that much!

Ive been here since June of 04' and I know my post count is reltivly low, but i just post to things im interested in. New people should really look up information in the search tool, or not make random posts in dicsusses that are like " Well im new to this so i just dont knwo what to do yet. Why dont you try the tutoirls" OR " Yea, I just started and I have no idea what im doing, why dont you try what ( the guy who posted above them) siad to do."

I mean please. Those post just make the bord more of a mes. In all honesty I don't relaly care, but it would just be eiaser if people posted when they have something to add, not detract.

'Back in the day' [ aka when I first joined ] I remember being all spazzy with the posts.
It was pretty cool actually 'cause people actually knew me.
But now I'm lazy and my post count is low and ALL IS WELL.

I noticed it too; but well, we don't shout at them like we used to. *Dramatic, old man sigh*. I think it's okay though, because it backfires on those that post too much. They don't get known for being "cool" because they post too much, they get remembered as being "annoying"...because they post too much.

Either way post whoring doesn't acheive any of the goals it tries to. It's just stupid, nobody likes it, so don't. Although I have like 5900 posts (Senseless Banter included), but I accumulated them over a year and a bit so NYEH.

Right. Quality over quantity. Always has been, always will be. I've been here almost a whole year now, and I've got over 1,000 posts. Everyday, DV is the first of all the forums I come to, and the last one I leave, so since I spend a lot of time here, I can make more quality posts.

Post-whoring is just as dirty as it sounds. It's like a "get rich quick" scheme: it never works, and you only make a fool out of yourself trying.

Post-slutting, as in, posting in Senseless where your count doesn't rise, is however, still frowned on, but much more acceptable. And you'll only find it here!

Hey, just look at the member list -- there are some people who joined in 2003 and only have one or zero posts ()! And hey, I hadn't noticed that either...I guess we're just different people who have different lives who've made more or less posts as a result. It's all written in the stars, my friend...

it never used to happen back in the day. the heads of many post-whores on stakes in the ground decorated my yard, which of course scared people out of doing it.

But i do have something like 800 and something posts...is that excessive? and not ONE of them are excessive, or needless...

Occasionally, i might look at someone's posts and their date, and go 'woah!! look how much they've posted!'
Interesting, that i've never investigated their posts...probably goes back to the fact that i'm not here to diss about!
