Thread: Is this true?

I remember from somewhere that the right side of your brain is supposed to be more artistic, while the left ide is supposed to be more logical. If that's true, wouldn't you be able, to a degree, find out whether a person was more logical than artistic by having them try to read the words or say the color?

I guess so. Isnt the left part of your body controled by the right side of the brain and vis versa or is that a lie? Because Im left handed which would mean the right half of my brain is more doninant and I was able read the colors with out messing up.

From everything I've heard, that is true.

It's weird -- I didn't have much trouble reading through the chart saying the colors, but every time I get to the "GREEN" in red text on the 4th line, my mind balks a little.

I think success at reading the colors on that chart is similar to rubbing your stomach and patting your head - you have to learn to separate the stimuli so that two contradictory actions/thoughts/processes can be performed simultaneously.

That's an interesting idea about using the chart to judge whether a person is more analytical or artistic. It wouldn't be a hard experiment to perform, actually. All you'd need to do is give each of your subjects a left-brained/right-brained aptitude test, and then measure their speed and accuracy at the color chart. I've had my learning style and aptitudes measured professionally a couple of times, and I've always come out between 50/50 to 60/40 on the left-brained/right-brained styles. Personally, I don't have a problem naming the ink color if I focus on the task and sort of "disconnect" the reading autopilot, although it tends to get more difficult to keep it up the longer the chart is.

I wonder if there are any psychology students who are looking for an interesting and fairly easy research project...

when I took an IQ test they gave me a long list of miscolored words like that. I thought that was interesting.

Dont think its as simple as that.

I'm deffo more creative than logical, though. Doesn't help in exams when i tend to sit back and doodle : /

darn, I guess that makes me sane and I always thought I was crazy.
