I seem to remember something about the lead singer walking into the smithsonian and telling them that they could display the cover to X&Y if they want... |

I don't know about you, but I found Viva La Vida... to be an album that has no average songs on it. |

Yay thread resurrection. |
|
this is pretty old news, but did you guys hear about Joe Satriani suing Coldplay because "Viva La Vida" sounds like Satriani's "If I could Fly"? |
|
Coldplay are my favorite band. I know this is completely subjective and I'm not going to say anything stupid like "only stupid people hate Colplay," but I am going to say: If you don't like them, don't buy their albums. Don't make forum threads to insult them. |

I love DEILD! SP is pwnage!
I don't like Coldplay one bit. Someone got me one of their CD's for my birthday once, I don't even know what the hell happened to it. |

This shit never happens to me
I have really come to like Coldplay over the last while, and although X&Y was a good album, Viva La Vida really took their music in a new direction, which I really liked. |

Special thanks to maniakalBycikle for the sig!
That is the biggest load of litigious balls I've heard in a long time!! If coldplay were going to rip someone else off, they'd at least pick a good song!! If they'd ripped of a substantial tune with some inspiration in it such as, I don't know, Sheep may Safely Graze, I could understand Bach taking them to court. But Satriani's just trying to strike gold because coldplay happened to come up with the same moronic arrangement of notes that he did. If he succeeds then I'm planning to sue everyone who ever uses the chord progression D-A-F, based on a song I wrote when I was 12 that used the same chords. If a jury of 12 have to examine this tosspot's song, it'll probably double his audience. |

Holy crap I didn't realize this thread was a resurrected one XD I just saw it had new posts. |

That Viva la Vida Loca or whatever it's called piece of twaddle is pretty much Chris Martin going "OK, I couldn't write a melody if civilisation depended upon it, so I'll just come up with a chord progression and warble my lyrics over it. The result is as bland as beige curtains so I'll ramp up the orchestration and cook up some cheap nostalgic lyrics, consciously making them ambiguous so that listeners can freely interpret it as relating to their own emotional failures or personal regrets. This way the song will strike a chord with them and they'll buy it purely on the emotional resonance, forgetting that the average person's backside produces more melodious harmonies. Besides, it's as inoffensive as vanilla icecream so it'll be commercial radio fodder." |
