Thread: You Geek

So, being a total nerd/geek/dork, today I decided to finally find out what the hell was the difference between them all.

First I looked in the dictionary.

According to the New Oxford Dictionary of English a nerd is a foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious, a geek is an unfashionable or socially inept person, or a circus performer who eats the heads of live animals. A dork of course means a penis in the US, but it is also a contemptible, socially inept person.

Then I looked in Schott's Almanac '06

A nerd has above average IQ but below average social skills (and apparantly personaly hygeine aswell), a geek is fascinated by technology, and a dork is an offensive dweeb... a dweeb being a 'clueless though innofensive nerd'.

In conclusion, I need a life.

The only time I've ever heard dork used like that was in the animated movie Heavy Metal.

I've heard dork used like that a lot, and I'm not American.

Hurrah, and I thought I was just a humble, unfashionable social inept guy. Now I must seek out live animals and a circus to discover my destiny.

To not be a nerd/geek/dork or whatever you don't necessarily need a life. You just dress and act like the popular people.

Basically you don't do any schoolwork, don't get a job doing anything outside of some form of building site or a military career, you wear air max trainers or nike shox , air max tracksuits, and giant gold chains (last ones only really apply in the UK). Make sure you come to school or go to work with a black eye or swollen red knuckles every once in a while. That's just about it. Oh yeah, and drive shitty old cars that you spend more money on tuning than you spent on buying the car in the first place - preferably 2 doored 4 seaters.
