The Shining is the best horror movie ever, possibly after The Exorcist and The Amittyville Horror (original, 1979 version). Those last two are the two scariest, I think. I never thought The Shining was that scary, but it is such a cool movie. As far as illustrating extremely trippy psychological screwiness, The Shining takes the cake.

Fun Fact: I&#39;ve never watched The Shining, but I know the reference, the phrase, the plot and pretty much everything about the movie that you can learn without actually watching it.

The Shining is possibly the only horror movie I like. Besides Shaun of the Dead, but that comes off as a lot more than just a horror movie.

Oh yeah. I think it came out in 1980. So never mind. That means all 6 billion of us have already seen it.

Everybody, I just remembered that a 90&#39;s version was made with Steven Weber and Rebecca De Mornay. That one is pathetic, so make sure that isn&#39;t the one you rent. It is ridiculous that it was even made. Jack Nicholson has a lot to do with why the first/real one is so damn good. Shelley Duvall and director Stanley Kubrick do too. Don&#39;t bother with the Psycho remake with Vince Vaughn either. It is such an insult.
