man I don't see any relation between 'gothic' and 'sad'
if I were to describe 'gothic', I wouldn't use the word 'sad'.. I'ld use the word 'sober'

guess I'm not sad often anymore, I learnt to deal with sadness long ago

again, I'ld say I'm 'sober'.. emotional sobriety

Quite simply, your reality is the one where the glass if half full. The word is pessimistic.

Of course, argueing if the glass is half-empty or half-full is just a waste of time. A more productive use of time would be getting the waiter over here so you can get a refill. Otherwise he'll pay for it in his tip.
