Hm, what age? The age most people start? The average age of smokers? The age when it should be legal?
Me, personally, don't smoke, never have and hopefully never will. I hate it. The smell used to make me feel sick. Now I'm a bit more used to it but still thinks it smells awful.

Oh dear.

Perhaps it's my pessimism, perhaps it's because I think the internet should come with a minimum age (of 16), but I sense this is a sign of what is to come for the DreamViews forum.

I have points to make:

1) Fink is spelt 'Think'

2) The age of smoking? I would say it was at it's most popular in the 1950s. WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO ASK? The miminum age to buy tobacco legally in the UK is 16. Is that what you trying to ask? Is it?

3) You shouldn't say you are a 'sexy bitch' at 14. You aren't. You haven't completed puberty yet. No one would find a 14-year-old sexy, except a paedophile and, although I'm sure you're making some great attempts at attracting them on other forums, they're aren't any here, so I find your username offensive and unappropriate.

4) I feel as if topics like this are lowering the quality of this forum.

No. Ages mean nothing. I'm 13 and I have enough intelligence to use the internet.

Perhaps an minimum IQ would be a better idea.

smoking age is relative to where you live... it's 18 here in arizona. i won't tell you when i had my first smoke but i do smoke now... i don't see anything wrong with it, as long as it doesn't rule your life.

on a side note i had a friend who smoked a pack and a half a day... he knocked up his girlfriend and quit for the baby. damn, us kids are bad.

I've second-hand smoked from age 5-9. I don't know what it did to me but I'm not sure I want to know.

As for the legal age for smoking I voted 11-, cause smoking kills and(I am sorry for those I offend but that is how I feel) people that do something as stupid and meaningless as smoking deserve to loose 2 minutes of their life per cigarette, and perhaps much more...

agreed, Truthbearer - most people don't like to be told what to do with their lives - and that's why they smoke in the first place. The most we can do is give a rational explanation about the dangers and high chance of addiction, but it all comes down to the individual. Telling people not to smoke is a waste of time. No one (who smokes) really gives two shits about what the anti's say, and therefore I really don't care what age people 'should' be allowed to smoke. If they want to do it, they will do it. "Should" and "shouldn't" are meaningless concepts - people are not sheep- oh wait, yeah they are

i didn't start smoking to be any more social. i started smoking on a regular basis when i started having job, sport, parent, car, school, girl problems all balled into one and i was given some free time. it was a release for me. i would normally smoke alone during breaks at work or in the car. rarely would i smoke at parties because it bothered so many people. so to generalize like that isn't a good line of thought. i smoke for the same reason i drink or do drugs... it's an escape of sorts... it gets my mind off of the negative issues and distracts me from the mundane shit we call life.

p.s. i've slowed down considerably in the past couple months because i don't have the job, school, sport, car problems... i guess a broken hand could be a good thing too.

I can't say I understand why you would take up smoking, even in that situation. Drugs and alcohol I can understand, as they are a way to escape reality, but smoking really doesn't do anything of that sort. Many people claim that a cigarette calm them down, not knowing tabacco is a stimulant and not something that will calm you down. What it does calm down is their physical urge and need for tabacco, once your body has already become addicted to it...

I won't critize you, or anything like that. It is really not my job, nor should I care. All I am saying is what I know...

P.S. Awaken: The popular thing to do at an adolecent age is not to obey the antis or whatever. The popular thing to do is smoke. So you wouldn't really be reveling against anything, but rather indulging yourself in the trends...

have you ever had a nicotine rush? it helps take your mind off of everything.

i'm just saying it's nice to forget for a little while.

or possibly i didn't get enough love when i was in the oral stage of my adolescence and i feel the need to compensate by having something in my mouth... then again, sometimes a cigarette is just a cigarette.

Yes, that's true, a minimum IQ would be more fitting.

The internet is too diverse and open to be used as a ground for social interaction for low-IQ pubertal persons. That's my opinion.
