Yeah, you better check to make sure your water pipes weren't accidentally linked with the local gas station.

I think that when you sprayed it the air pocket that got blasted out with the water sort of blew the flame sideways and made it seem like it explosed.

i read the title to this thread and couldn't help but think i was going to walk in on some people exploding... now i'm disapointed.

dont feel bad. I originally thought this topic was about doing crazy things with fire....like setting your nipple on fire....

There's a few kids in my school who armed themself with an old French exercise book, a lighter, and a can of aerosol.

They lit the book with the lighter. They used the aerosol. It started a huge fire in front of all the teachers, and by the time they had managed to stop it out it had completely devoured the French book.

maybe it was the propellant in the spray ? (if you were using some kind or spray bottle )

perhaps the litte drops of water evaporated and thus expanded so quickly by the heat it made a sound? Explosions work that way, lighting a substance that evaporates and expands so quickly.

Grab a candle, get some very thin wire and make a handle with a small 3/16" hoop at the end, and alternate dipping that inside water and molten candle wax. Sometimes it'll pop/sparkle (water), sometimes it'll burn (wax)...

I know a cooler trick.

Get a lighter, cup your hands cross-wise and leave a hole at the top. Have someone push the gas release and hold the lighter so gas goes between your hands.

Wait 30 seconds.

Have the person spark the flint, slowly open you hands. You'll be holding fire for about 2 seconds.

My friend does this with isopropyl alcohol.. Doesn't hurt.

Something really cool to do with a lighter is to get one of those cheap ones that have the little switch so that you can turn them up, then take the little metal cap off and this lets you turn it up as much as you want... Then you put the metal cap back on and make it go.

I turned one up about 4 times what it was supposed to be and I got a flame about 4-5 times the size of a regular one.

Yeah this person I know did that with one of the big lighters. He made the flame about 1 feet long! It was roaring and you could see the liquid inside going down because the fire was eating it up so fast.
