I lived through the Outkast reign of terror, and as a former citizen of Atlanta, I have listened to their "work" very much. I don't see what makes them stand out from anybody else, except for their intricit 2 word chorus of "Hey ya", half of which isn't even a real word. JK O. I'm just being a "playerhater". Outkast just really isnt my style. And, yes, I really don't see what makes them a good band. Let it be known throughout the land that people have differing opinions on music.

Let it be known throughout the land that people have differing opinions on music. Heh. Remember: A "differing opinion on music" only matters when you've done enough research on said music to have what classifies as "adequate enough perception" to form an opinion. In other words: If you haven't listened to enough Outkast to be able to gauge their good and their bad, you don't have an opinion of Outkast's music, for what it's worth. To put it in perspective: I think the Backstreet Boys are a f'cking horrible band, but I think "Backstreet's Back" is probably their best song that I've heard, because it's catchy and dance-worthy (meaning that I've listened to enough BB songs to actually be analytical of their material). And, yes, I really don't see what makes them a good band. (IMHO) What makes Outkast a good band is the fact that (if you take the time to stop and listen to their lyrics) they talk about many relevant issues from a very conscious and intelligent point of view. They are not only very aware of the social issues that (a lot of) their songs talk about, but they are very creative in both rhyme-scheme and literary composition - showing that they aren't just "blah blah blah"-ing over the mic, like many of today's rappers do.
