      DMT

ive noticed a dramatic increase in harmfull chemicles being abused around my part of town and its sick. Tweakers all runnin round doing god knows what. well my purpose for this thread is to hopefully give some hope to any of you out there who are an active perticapant in this mess. "Drugs" are good when natural, but not when eccessively consumed. And another thing to think about is why you need to use a drug in the first place? The only thing they do is stimulate a certain receptor somwhere in your little cranium, so why not try to do that WITHOUT rely-ing on a chemicle? "so how do i do that" you might ask, well the answer is incredibly simple...MEDITATION. I willing to bet that if you spent some time learning how to disapline the mind you always have had you could reach EXTROARDINARY states of concouisness. one example: LSD tricks the brain into believing its seritonin and breaks the blood-brain berriar, releases DMT and Melitonin. enough meditation and you could do that yourself!!! so dont destroy yourself for a mere couple hours of "bliss". but hey, i believe in personal freedom so im no one to preach, do whatever you want, but just know you may one day regret it.

      -Peace

There is nothing wrong with lsd. Causes absolutely no harm to your body. Has no phychological of physiological addictiveness.

Btw, I got this information from a college phychology book from 2003. So take all the lsd you want.

I think I'll continue to avoid it anyway. (And that includes pretty much every other drug there is)

It can. My father recalls a girl who took LSD once - only once - and was screwed up for the rest of her life, and had to go into a mental hospital. You see, they hang it all up on a line, so there is a large concentration of LSD on the patches on the bottom. And if my father said it, it must be true!

Um....ok...there's no way in hell that through meditation you can cause the release of massive amounts of serotonin into your brain. I'm not talking about LSD btw, talking about X. And even if through meditation, you could accomplish this...what the fuck is the point, because it has the exact same effect as taking the drug itself. Ugh, makes no sense.

I have yet to discover a drug-state that is not replicated in a more desirable form as a *side-effect* of meditation practice. No, you can't sit down and trigger a seratonin dump before you go to the club, but at the point where you're having these experiences, your interest has generally shifted away from finding the happiest tingle, anyway.

For me, meditation and drug use had similar goals: I wanted to broaden my experience of reality to have a more true view, to know the world from more angles. What I've found is, all the knowledge to be gained from drugs is also available in meditation, in a more digestible and sustainable form. As for escapism...trying to avoid suffering by getting off on whatever is like trying to escape a maze by running around with your eyes closed. Doesn't it make more sense to calm down, examine the maze, and walk out when you KNOW where the door is?
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

i think toasaur found what i attempted to get at, and i horribly failed by the way. And the idea that LSD is harmless is so far from the truth its....well...COMPLETELY IDIOTIC! LSD can be completely safe, that much is true, but its a powerful substance, if its not destroying you on its own, it has the potentail of pushing you to do just that to yourself. And maybe i took it to far in saying you could push your brain into realeasing various chemicles, but you could however learn how to use visualization to create a LSD like world and come as close as your can to entering that world for a while, and i know from experiance that it is possible to do so.If youve not the patience for that why not try a less dangerous chemicle, DMT has a natural occurance in the brain, and when consumed it causes NO damage(unless smoked, for obvious reasons) and is actaully benificial for the brain, its like brain candy, and it also has a shorter duration, so you get a chance to pull yourself back together and get a meaning out of what you just saw. all in all drugs a merely a lazy mans why of gaining some form of enlightenment. Dont underestimate your own potential, restore the faith in you!

Just like, um, you know, peer pressure, drinking, or religious beliefs can too.

Some drugs are beneifical. Some are bad. Some can be benefical in small amounts, and life threatening in large amounts. It's like food. It's benefical to eat say, a steak, for the energy, etc, but if you eat 5 steaks, you have a bit of a problem.

incubusfunkman i have no idea why you chose DMT for your topic.
you talk about drugs are bad etc and why do ppl need it, its more like they want it.
But Dmt is a substance that our brain already makes from itself.
also its not really poisoness or addictive u less u would use extreme portions.
      Works very short to.

That you go for meditation doesnt mean your in te possition to judge others who experiment.
you could say the same about driving, dont drive but meditate because its more safe and healthy.
That doesnt mean i dont c your point, i just find you overdo it and also take the wrong drug..dmt
as example for your view on things.
Better taken alcohol for your example, it gives way more dead
then all other drugs and mecation added up on one big pile.
Still we accept it just the same.
PPl forget often that alcohol is a harddrug!

Also about the you could do that yourself, thats not objective.
Because the level of dmt u release in your brain or serotonin has not the same effect as
drugs can have on you because of there dosage.
But also meditation is different then a drugs experiece.
it is related because both share the brain but still its not the same.
A pure meditation experience is different then a drugs experience!
It feels different, with drugs it feels forced a bit and less control compared with meditation..
Both can be meaningfull but are not automatically meaningfull.
Bit like money, not all money you spent makes sense but some does!
It depends purely on the person if its meaningful, and that differs from person to person.

Next time you should read the whole topic before replying, and just maybe i named it DMT for the irony, or maybe because it IS like you said the brains natural "drug". Witch would tie into the topic VERY well. And meditation can immatate LSD very closely if you do it right, try disaplining yourself to sit in a light isolated room for at least 7 days, then youll know what i mean, of corse there are many things you must have to do so, your everyday foods and tryptaphan rich subsatnces like turky, milk, chocolate ect. Well i hope that clears things up a bit.

p.s seriosly read the whole topic, youll fell a little dumb.

      Peace

I read it again, and i c your intentions are good and you mean well!
Still its not true because you forget that trips with lsd for example are also dosage related.
If you take a high dosage lsd you cant copy that with an average meditation,
because the average person that meditates isnt a meditation master.
What the average person will experience with a good trip of lsd
(not that i recommand that to them) goes way beyond there experience level
      from meditation.
Same for dmt, if you take a good dosage of dmt you go way over the level
you produce of it in your brain when you meditate.

I find your post good because it shows your concerned about others.
PPl also take drugs to explore and to experience, not that that is always wise,
but that need isnt covered with just going to meditate.
you give them a bit of a promise like you have a substitute for drugs.
I say that is only partly true. for a part it cant be a substitute for drugs,
just because they also differ in the experience they bring.
Probably for most ppl meditation would be more constructive, and meditation is a lot safer then just taking
lsd out of the blue and dont have a clue whats happening to you.

So here we are comparing LSD and meditation...probably a bad idea in the first place

In my experience, the value of LSD is that it makes the processes of perception visible by inserting small errors into the system. Normally, our perceptive mechanisms work so smoothly that we don't even know they're there--we experience a smooth, seamless "reality" even though it's assembled from five distinct feeds (the senses) filtered through the mind. Drop acid, and you start seeing glitches: instead of smooth movement, you see "tracers" following a running man; continuity breaks down and scenes get shuffled; a single syllable stretches out over several minutes of subjective time. The errors compound toward a "peak" experience in which your perceived realilty may be wildly outside the normal range, though it's still constructed from the input of your senses filtered through your knowledge of the world. For some people, tripping is their first direct experience of perception--the fact that the reality they had taken for a true and solid thing is in fact a creative activity of the mind.

It can be a powerful, shamanic experience. It can also be very hard to digest, and many people retreat from it, writing it off as "fucked-up drug shit" or taking shelter in an even more rigid worldview than they had before. Others will drop every day for that "revelation rush." Very few people are able to apply the experience gained on an acid trip in any practical way.

Meditation, undertaken with the aim of clarifying one's view in order to end suffering in the world, also exposes the mechanisms of perception. It doesn't take place in an eight hour span, generally, but for that very reason one can often retain and make use of the lessons in daily life, recognizing the ways we construct reality from moment to moment and shaping the process skillfully. Along the way, perception may loosen up, yielding experiences beyond the consensus reality--visions, blissful states, spontaneous sound or movement, overflowing love. Not to say you won't also at times be pissed-off, bored, or frustrated to the point of tears .

I guess my point is, yes one acid trip will be more intense than most single sessions of meditation; a year of acid use and other drug use might even be more intense than a year of meditation and mindfulness; but five years of meditation and mindfulness will be much more intense than a five year drug habit; and a twenty year practice of meditation and mindfulness will provide more intensity of experience than all the drugs you could consume in a lifetime.

Chances are you're going to be here for a while--you might as well make the most of it.

      YMMV
