Mankind is still a relatively juvenile race, so I guess it's normal that we still make lots of mistakes. Let's hope that in time this will change. It will require hard work though.

Humans are the worse things to ever happen to this planet. In fact, the worst thing to ever happen to humans was a high level of intelligence.

Humans are not the worst thing to happen to this planet. Honestly we haven't fucked it up that much, but we keep trying. The problem is not a high level of intelligence, but ignorance. Lets take time to think about the futility of vengence. That is the one thing we can all do to help bring about peace.

We are no different from the other species. The balance will be restored. Eventually. I look at it this way: In stone age our species was a toddler. Now we are discovering new stuff so fast without looking at the consequenses; and we (generally) behave like a bunch of small minded 16 year olds.(no offence) Our species is going through puberty. Eventually we will learn....

9/11 was a tragedy, but there are other tragedies in the past that aren't talked about as much as 9/11. Intelligence is among the worst thing to happen to earth, along with religion. If we weren't intelligent we wouldn't be making things that kill the environment and we wouldn't be destroying everything. But when I look at it from another point, if we weren't intelligent we'd still just be some vicious race of mammals that kill each other for survival. Also, if there was no religion, 9/11 would have never happened. Along with many other things in the world, like crusades, persecutions, etc. etc..

Yeah, I know I'm a theist, but I can still point out problems with my beliefs.

I think that those who disagree with this statement assume we believe that humanity is all bad. Humanity is far from completely malicious but you have to admit that attaining higher-order thinking skills has lead to the best and the worst things that have ever happened on Earth.

I don't consider that many humans intelligent.

I disagree. If you read Lord of the Flies you can see that human nature is inescapable...

If leaders didn't manipulate people into crusades via exploiting there religion they could use something else.

If people are zelous enough about something they will find convictions in whatever they want. Conviction is not sprung on by religion. 9/11 specifically may have happened, but if we look at humans history we can find any reason to kill each other without logic.


And as far as intellect, I think it's more about our concept of desire. We want more than survival and contentment. That is my definiton of desire anyway. If monkeys were suddenly hit with our level of intelligence but not with desire, they would probably not build on each other or beat down each other as much. They would be more logical about it I'd say.
