      Well bugger me, what was that then?

      Dearest Lady Gwendolyn,

      This has happened several times to me now... I do my WBTB, then go to sleep listening to the "Deep Theta" preset in Bwgen. I'm not trying to wild, just trying to go to sleep and hopefully keep my awareness higher than usual to increase chances of a DILD. After about half an hour of drifting off into drowsiness but not actually falling asleep, I usually get a sudden feeling of being ripped out of my body and being sucked down into a whirlpool. Last time it happened, I believe I lost the sense of hearing as this was happening. Then my increased heart rate made me short of breath and my heavier breathing woke me right back up. Bits of my body were quite numb but I wasn't paralysed by any means. Anyone know what the flaming Charlie happened there, and whether I can use it to become lucid?

      O sweet Gwendolyn, that I should bare my soul in vain! Knowest thou not the pain of unrequited threads?

      Seriously, can no wilders or oobieists explain what was happening? Is it possible I was in the transitional phase even though I didn't see any hypnagogics and wasn't paralysed?

      With no visual/auditory aspect, when I wasn't paralysed?
