Just a Place

so i was talking to my friend trying to figure out what job would be perfect for me, when it hit me.

what if i ran a store called 'Just a Place'
it would be a place where you can just come and like chill. then i added to the idea by saying that people can come and talk to me. then maybe people could come to talk to me but i could hire other people to talk to other people that might want to talk.
all the lonely people wouold now have somewhere to go and people to talk to!!!!that would mean suicide rates go down! then like people could just donate money to fund 'Just a Place' and people would love it. we wouldn't sell anything, we would just like be very social and help others become social!

what do you guys think? good or bad. heck maybe even stupid?

You'd need to sell something to keep the place running. It sounds like a good idea. It'd be a nice hang out, where people can just come and chill. But people wouldn't pay for simply somewhere to sit or talk, or they would but it'd be a very isolated crowd.

Drinks, small foods like sandwiches, and or small novelty items like T-Shirts and other articles would be needed to not only keep the place running, but make at least a little profit.

It's a good idea in theory, but it needs more substance. It'd do well in the short term, but if you want it to last you need a source of income. Donations will only get you so far.

Who would come? Nobody wants to talk to you.... lol. I'm sure you could, but you'd have to offer something special to beat all the other places people can go just to hang out.

Make it an Internet Cafe.

Sell books, coffee, some food, and have people use computers.

I'd hang out at a place like that.

It sounds like a Community Building/Center. I wouldn't go the internet route because that's a solitary activity for the most part.
Maybe incorporate karioke (sp) and youth activities (basketball, art and the likes).

It sounds really nice, but it would be impossible to fund on donations alone. Buildings require a lot of things- maintanence, land tax, utilities, liabilty insurance and insurance for fire etc.
Perhaps you could petition for government funding, but that could take years.

lol. i guess it would n't work very well. but hey maybe it could be like a place where all the DV members could kick it!
