      Prayer list...

For those of you who believe in the power of prayer, i was thinking maybe we could start a prayer list. What do you think?

Athiest and non believes have absolutly no reason to post here so don't bother.

      Ohh Ohh!!! Me First!!

Crowley's Prayer to Satan, followed by his Hymn to Lucifer:

To thee, o Satan, glory be, and praise,
In Heaven, once thy kingdom, the abyss
Of Hell, where, now, thou dreamest silently!
Grant that my soul, one day, beneath the Tree
Of Knowledge, may rest near thee, when o'erhead,
Like a new Temple, its wide branches spread!

      Hymn

O thou, of Angels loveliest, most wise,
O God betrayed by fate, deprived of praise,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
O Prince of exile, who was dispossessed,
Who ever rises stringer when oppressed,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
O thou who knowest all, Hell's sovereign,
      Known healer of mankind's afflictions,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
Thou who the lepers and pariahs doomed
Show out of love the Paradise to come,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
Thou who in Death, your mistress old and strong,
      Breeds Hope - delightful aberration!
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
Thou who dost give the outlaw the proud glance
Which damns the crowd who watch his sufferance,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
Thou who dost know where greedy earth enfolds
The precious stones a jealous God concealed,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
Thou whose clear eye knows the deep sepulchres
Where multitudes of metals lie interred,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
Thou whose great hand conceals the precipice
From the somnambulist whom roofs entice,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!

Thou who by magic softens the old bones
Of loitering drunks by horses trampled down.
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
Thou who, consoling frail mankind in pain,
Taught us to make our guns and gun-cotton,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
Thou who didst set thy mark, accomplice skilled,
Upon the heart of Croesus harsh and vile,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
Thou who put into women's hearts and eyes
The cult of wounds, the love of poverty,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
Staff of the exile and discoverer,
      Confessor of condemned conspirator,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress!
Father to those whom in his sombre wrath
God drove from his paradise on earth,
Satan, have mercy on my long distress

The Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra - The Life-Giving Prayer

      Om trayambakam yajaamahe sugandhim pushtivardhanam
      Urvaarukamiva bandhanaan mrityor muksheeya maamritaat.

MEANING: We worship the three-eyed One (Lord Siva) Who is fragrant and Who nourishes well all beings; may He liberate us from death for the sake of immortality even as the cucumber is severed from its bondage (to the creeper).

      For Lord Shiva
      Shaantam padmaasanastham shashadharamakutam panchavaktram trinetram,
      Shoolam vajram cha khadgam parashumabhayadam dakshinaange vahantam;
Naagam paasham cha ghantaam damaruka sahitam chaankusham vaamabhaage,
Naanaalankaara deeptam sphatika maninibham paarvateesham namaami.

MEANING: I prostrate myself before the five-faced Lord of Parvati, who is adorned with various ornaments, who shines like the crystal jewel, who is seated peacefully in the lotus pose, with moon-crested crown, with three eyes, wearing trident, thunderbolt, sword and axe on the right side, who holds the serpent, noose, bell, damaru and spear on the left side, and who gives protection from all fear to His devotees.

      For Lord Ganesha
      Gajaananam bhootaganaadisevitam
      Kapittha jamboophala saara bhakshitam;
      Umaasutam shoka vinaasha kaaranam
      Namaami vighneshwara paada pankajam.

MEANING: I worship the lotus feet of Ganesha, the son of Uma, the destroyer of all sorrows, who is served by the host of gods and elementals, and who takes the essence of the kapittha-jarnbu fruit (fruit resembling the bilwa fruit).

This post is open to all faiths, right Davej?

You didn’t actually specify, and Im sure you aren’t tiny minded enough to assume that only Xtians have their little prayers, poems and hymns? Did you?

Hope not - that would show a rather narrow and intolerant world view...... Don’t you think?

I think it's a good idea. Keeping prayers and positive thoughts for people who think that they need it... lots of positive energy going around will not only help those on the prayer list, but also those praying. You have my support davej!

      Heh. Nice guess.

Listen man, you need to tone down. If you think Christianity and prayer is rediculous, then that's your prerogative. But if it's really that rediculous to you, then don't waste your time here.

This thread is a prayer thread, and there is no need for trolling here. People who really believe that prayer works can come here, and post requests.

Others can view those requests and pray. It's actually a very nice idea. For you to come and troll it because you don't believe it works is very immature.

      Thanks davej!

      1) Tell me where I said Xtianity is rediculous.....

      2) yes it is a prayer thread. You do realise that the three Hindi prayers I posted are three of the most popular and important prayers in their religion? Why do you disregard millions of hindu's - or are only xtian prayers for real???

      3) Where did I say prayer doesnt work?

As I pointed out already. Dave did not specify that this was a xtian ONLY prayer thread. Or do you fail to grasp the simple concept that xtianity is (thankfully) not the only religion?

1st, you're being nothing but an absolute nuisance, spamming this thread with irrelevant prayers, not requests. Don't deny it. yo\Yu can pretend that your intentions were to actually assist this thread, but your attitude in your last post, and the one before that, and the one before that clearly show that your intentions were negative.

If a Muslim comes here, and asks for a prayer request, (doubtful) we can, and will assist him.

2nd, you have already claimed to follow several religions, which you obviously cannot, and so therefore are obviously to spam us with fake requests to a point (which I have already addressed), and be an overall troll.

The purpose of this thread is not to post prayers, it's to ask for prayers, and we will pray.

It was pretty amusing though right ?

Prayer is a strange thing. when I was a child... and this is a true story, I stopped praying, and started to wish for things instead. I noticed right away I had about the same success rate. I usually got about 10% of the things I wished for. The same for prayer.

The difference between wishing for things and praying for things a little different. So people that pray will take the 10% and say "oh what a great guy Jesus is for granting my prayers" and they right off the other 90% that he ignored. It's just a big game really.

My intentions actually were driven by my irritation to the very existence of this thread.

You see this is the EXTENDED DISCUSSION forum. I don’t ever post here - I normally hang out in the actual lucid dreaming parts of the forum. But I do enjoy reading the ongoing debates and mental jousting between believers and non-believers. You see the forum is for DISCUSSION.

I find it very pretentious therefore that dave - someone who seems to post almost exclusively in this forum, whose threads seem quote rather a lot of stoneage towel-head mythology at people, would create a thread forbidding non-believers (by which he really means non xtians) to participate.

My whole point was therefore to screw with him a little by pointing out that his nasty and repugnant religion is not the only one that utilizes prayer, and maybe get a discussion going to this end (there's that discussion word again!!!!!)

Maybe dave is a wannabee or failed preacher? If you guys want an exclusive xtian prayer list or threads where you can wallow in your wretchedness and sin then why not go to Rapture Ready where you will find many like minded dweebs and the woefully yet determinedly ignorant. If you choose to post something here then expect a DISCUSSION.

I did not claim to follow ANY of the religions whose prayers/hymns I posted - the point was to show that there are many diverse options - something xtians seem to constantly struggle with. Although I admit I do have a soft spot for the prayer to Shiva - the part about the cucumber gets me moist and misty eyed every time.

I DO have a prayer request for you Noogah. I was especially annoyed yesterday after some Fundie ripped my Flying Spaghetti Monster "fish" decal off the back of my car. I had to buy another from amazon. I also ordered the Darwin fish giving it to the xtian fish doggie style :

      http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00..._ya_oh_product

Please pray that the fundie that disrespected my personal property does not cross my path again - because if I catch him touching my car again he will find himself lying on his back nursing a burst mouth while I gouge very rude words as deeply as I can on every panel of his car.

Alternatively you could pray that your magic sky elf/pixie/fairy magic’s away his genitals. As a fundie he certainly has body shame issues and doesn’t like using them anyway because its sinful.

Yes it was amusing, in a disturbing and hopeless way.

The "power of prayer" is not strange - its just an excellent example of selective belief. The xtian prays that god "saves" their sick goldfish/aunt/car or something, if said goldfish/aunt/car pulls through then its a MIRACLE! Praise the LORD/ELF/PIXIE!!! If not then theres some get out clause (eg - "he moves in mysterious ways" or "ours is not to reason why", etc etc)

Prayer is more complex then this. You treat God like some sort of Santa Clause who will grant any wish. That isn't what prayer is about.

As for you, I'd the thread disgusts you, then leave!!! Davej did not forbid you from posting, he only said that you have no reason to post here. In other words, unless you actually have a valid reason to post here which relates to thread, please just leave us in peace...for once!

You have proved to me your status of a troll.

      I can handle insults.

      I can handle flaming.

      I can handle idiocracy.

But there is one thing I will not tolerate.

      DO NOT TWIST MY WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm serious here! I take this really seriously! Don't make me repeat myself!

      Noogah!

Wow - I only posted exactly what you typed!

What happened to your meek! I thought xtians liked meek! Need to work on that meek a little methinks......

Pray what does an angry xtian do anyway - sing "all things bright and beautiful" at an annoying volume?

I read earlier that you share a room with you little brother - suggest therefore you work on your meek rather than make underwhelming empty threats.

I do think this thread is going terribly well though, dont you? We have one ignored prayer request, a hilariously bad example of xtian rock and a flustered Noogah.

Sorry Noogah, if people can't be mature and open-minded about this thread and the fact that there's more than one belief system out there... to bad for them.

Evildoctor: try to have some respect for people's beliefs okay? Just because there are people in this world that are different than you (thank the powers that be) dosn't mean that you need to critisize them for what they believe. Noogah hasn't critisized you, but asked you to stay away from a thread that you're not making a positive contribution to. Is that so hard for you? All you've done is singled out Christianity and railed on it. As you so astutely noted, this isn't just a Christian thread, do don't single them out. In fact, you may remember your mom saying this "be nice to everyone". It's pathetic that it's taken you this long to learn how. If you want to contribute later, then fine, stay for as long as you'd like. But if you're going to continue to post ignorant and closed minded opinions, go to the Senseless Banter forums and start your own thread.

And I have a request: If you guys could pray for me that would be great. I've been having kind of a rough week, and it would be good to have some positive energy heading my way. Thanks!

Kordan and Noogah thanks for your support. I think we should follow through with this prayer list. Anything someone you know may be going through, simply list this person. If you do not wish to list there name, simply say my brother or my friend needs prayers. You can list what they need prayers for if you want but is not necessary.

Secondly, to those that have come on here and made themselves look like morons, just ignore them. they are showing their maturity levels and I personally will not stoop to their level.

Also, Thanks Jeff for giving evildoctor your warning.

To those who don't believe in prayers etc, if you would like "good wishes" sent, I will be more then happy to do that as well as pray for whatever it is you or anyone you know may need good wishes over.

This isn't just simply for negative things, for example, you know of someone getting married... add them to the list and we can pray that they have a wonderful marriage.....

New idea! We can't have a troll free thread, because this is the R/S forums. Duh.

So, I suggest we introduce a new tactic in our fight for peace.

If someone comes here to be a nuisance, and to troll, let's just ignore them.
      John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
