      http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php (supplementary anti-malware...almost nothing slips by)
      http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Sear...-10122137.html (very good, fast scanner)
      http://www.ccleaner.com/ (cleans out the crapola in your system, frees up memory)

      Those 4 will keep you insulated for life.

      I can verify that these in fact work. Just remember to scan at least once a week.

      Avast is pretty much equal to AVG Free. Both work great, but I don't have enough experience with Avast to recommend it in good confidence. Meh, whatever works.
